Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

If the cutoff is 10:00 AM Friday I will ASSUME general public is from 10:00 on. Got a call into someone who will know for certain and will post what they say when I hear back from them.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Just heard back from my guy in ticket & marketing at OSU and numbers are not good. At the beginning of the season there were about 200 season ticket holders with tickets for around 800 seats. The seating capacity of the rink is 830. They also said when you figure in allotment for our players, Ferris gets an allotment for their players and some for their boosters/gift givers and a small allotment for our students so technically speaking there isn't enough to go around.
They have to see how many of our player's allotment will be used and how many (if any) Ferris will return and how many of our season ticket holders buy before the cutoff Friday before they will know if they will even have ANY to sell to the public. He said they probably won't know until next week if they have any and when they would go on sale. He said in the past when they did have a few extra seats they sold FAST once they went on sale.
I'll keep everyone posted as I hear anything.

I thought the capacity was 1000, but you are correct on this one because they don't let anyone set in the seats behind the goal for the mens playoff games. That probably explains the missing 170 seats.

They used to have seating for playoffs behind the goal as I've sat there but that was before they put the band in that spot. Also the seating for that section is about 100 give or take. You have 3 rows of bleacher (it is 3 rows and not two right? Bad senior moment!) about 70 foot long. Figure 2 ft. per person and that's how it comes out.
They do list the seating capacity there online at 1000 but Duke the manager there will tell you that's a little over estimated and the 830 number is the tally the ticket office has.
I asked Duke some years ago why they don't bring in some temporary bleachers for the open area by the entrance but was told capacity is set by the fire marshall, no exceptions.

Well since it's throwback Thursday and we still have over a week to go- I thought I'd share this flashback with FS. Was anyone else on here at this Sunday game? I can recall there was not many of us in the Schott that night. It was looking pretty bleak down 4-2.

Mrs 86 and I were at that game. I rarely leave games early so we were there for the entire game. Needless to say, the team rewarded the fans who stayed. IIRC, that team went on to play in the CCHA Title Game vs Michigan, but the Wolverines got revenge for our win the year before. We went on to the NCAA Tournament and were beaten 3-2 by Cornell in the opening game.

You are correct about all of that.

LOL, I have a good memory, especially when it comes to losses to Michigan and early exits from the NCAA Tournament.

Yea me too. they were up 2-0 in that tournament game and a bad dump in cost them a goal and they never recovered from it.

Will this bye weekend in round one help OR hurt the momentum of the Bucks? I think it should help with any injuries to get 100% better , but will it be too much time off to mess up the hockey flow coming off the regular season.

I don't think it will hae any effect since Ferris is also off this weekend.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I think the time off will help more than hurt, namely for the banged-up guys. We should be pretty healthy. I need to find a way to get some tickets on Tuesday.

Getting Geding back will help for a number of reasons. Most of all it gets Martell off the ice. I dont think McLean will be back from that broken finger though.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Looking forward to seeing what the team can do. The Michigan series was the only hiccup we had seen in a while. We were missing both Gedig and McLean (Gedig played Friday but was clearly not ready to play yet) and I think it is clear we can probably get by missing one but not two. Lets hope everyone is healthy and stays healthy. If they do, we get goaltending, and a few bounces this team could make a run. There are some nice pieces of the puzzle and the Coaches have done a great job of having the team in this position.
The win Friday against Miami is an example of what this team can do.
Go Bucks!

If they can come out and play every game like that Friday nighter vs Miami, they could win the CCHA Tournament and maybe make some noise in the NCAA Tournament! That just may have been the best game they have played all season.

It was nice being at that Friday game in person. Was there with my son who's a Miami alum and afterwards we ran into a female friend of his who's a student there and she asked who won? I replied enthusiastically "WE DID!" and she goes "Yayyy!" and then noticed I was wearing OSU clothing and she goes "Oh, ...no...that's not good." Too funny!

I need to get down there sometime. I still haven't been to a game in Oxford since they built the new hockey arena.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Got a pair of tickets for Friday's game! Cannot wait to get there Friday night! We won't get there any earlier than 6:30 by the time we get out of work, run through a pickup window for supper, then jump on the highway, so I am not expecting the best seats Friday. But then, when the place only holds 830, there aren't really any bad seats. We're going to the CBJ game Saturday. If it goes three games, we'll try and get to Sunday's game.
