Didnt think last to bad i mean they could have done somethings better but Miami came out and did what they had to do and won a championship credit goes to them. Time to turn the page to the next chapter and get ready for the playoffs. Make the last name on the cup match the first name is the slogan for me. Hope i can get some tickets for this series should be a good one. I expect a low scoring series with the first goal meaning so much more.

All depends on whether or not the ATM line gets hot. They tend to keep scoring once they start.:D

There are usually tickets left over. Just pay attention to when general public sales start and jump on it right when they go on sale.

You can bet I'll be watching for that! I hate the fact that our men get kicked out of their own building on an almost annual basis come playoff time, but the atmosphere will be much better with a packed house at the OSU Ice Rink than a 25% full VCA.

It's all about the money. OSU won't hold a venue open on the CHANCE we'll need it and lose the revenue, at least that's how they explained it to me.
Given their mentality about that even if we did have our own hockey arena there how do we know they won't contract with the OHSAA to host state high school hockey championships there and STILL kick us into the barn?

I hear you on that one but this is probably the last best of 3 series we will see considering the Big Ten is putting all 6 teams into a single elimination tournament.

I haven't followed a lot of details on the B1G hockey next season except for the tournament rotation between the Xcel Center and the Joe supposedly for the first 5 seasons. I figure I have all summer to get up to speed on details.

I am going to miss the 3 game series.

Eventually when St John comes down the Ice Rink will come with it so not sure what the plan will be then. The obvious answer seems to be Nationwide. Now I read a story recently quoting an Asst AD that it didnt work out to have the 2nd round there this year. Jackets are home Sat night so maybe the problem was having an afternoon game on Sat.

I would hope the plan will be that a new ice arena is already in place before they tear down St. John Arena and the OSU Ice Rink. I know some think of the OSU Ice Rink as a practice facility for the men, or a second sheet of ice for CCHA playoff games if the Schott is not available, but our womens team actually plays their home games there, so before they raze St. John Arena and the OSU Ice Rink, I would hope they have a new arena built.

Yes that would seem logical but a new rink would have to go real quick, we'll see. Maybe SJA comes down but the Ice Rink and French stay for a bit.

That wouldn't be feasible, either, as the womens hockey locker room is actually located in St. John Arena.

I don't want to see the old rink go! Too many memories!
I remember when it opened, our club team which became the Buckeyes we know and love today and watching my children grow up on the ice. There is no need for that complex to go especially when my sources in the athletic dept basically say Gene Smith simply can't stand his offices in St.John and that's his real reason he want's it gone. Anything else he says is smoke & mirrors to his real reasons.

Wait a second, LOL, are you telling me that Gene Smith's office is in St. John Arena and not the Schott?!? Wow, did not know that. Actually, if you believe the 'find people' search on osu.edu, his office is located at 2400 Olentangy River Road (Fawcett Center), not St. John Arena.

St John arena is sinking. The cost to re-support the foundation and bring it up to code and put in some air conditioning is way more than the cost to build a new one. The same goes for the ice rink and French Field House - their foundations are sinking.

The dorms in the master plan for that site will have pilings sunk much deeper than those that support the current buildings. It has nothing to do with Gene's offices.

I hate to see it go as well - and if I had my preference the new hockey facility would look like a shrunken twin of St John. I love the seat elevation and the way every seat feels like it's on the court.

What's your source that they're sinking?

Just got the email that online purchase of 2nd round playoff tickets for season ticket holders is now avaiable. Deadline is this Friday at 10:00 AM!
The cost of this ticket package (1 ticket for all 3 games) would be $34.50 for adults and $19.50 for youth/students.
