Confsed on the Dusty matter, he carried the team at times the last two years.


With Goalie Dustin Carlson not in the line up yet this year , who is going to light the fire under Goalie Cal Heeter's butt? From what I've seen in the inter-squad scrimmage , the Sohopmore Goalie was good in the shootout event. That's all we know so far about him. I'm happy that Heeter is only a JR this year.

Not sure about the goalies specifically, but heard over the weekend at another game that all the verbals for 2011 and 2012 had been pulled and/or were being re-evaluated...
The USNTDP roster has not listed Gibson as an OSU commit for more than six weeks now.

I think a few of the verbals might be up in the air but I doubt that Shine, McCormick, Skoff, Nippery and Jardine have had their offers withdrawn since Oz was the one who recruited them.

I also saw an article where Ben Gallacher said he had talked to the new staff and was excited about joining them. (will try and find it again) Tanner Fritz still says he will be in Columbus next year.

FWIW, even though the season is still very young the leading scorer in the USHL is OSU commit Ryan Dzingel who's playing for Lincoln. If he stays near the top of the league in scoring I would be he would be in Columbus.

So that leaves only Cristofoli, Hand and Joyeaux as possibly up in the air.

So he was on the trip then? Ok but i still dont understand why Carlson is moved to D and playing in front of a upperclassmen who has a lot of experience.

Alex Carlson has not played at all except Saturday, he has been a healthy scratch for all the games this year exept Saturday at Ferris and on saturday he only got a few shifts (about 5-7). So he hasnt really played ahead of anyone.

For Recruiting the only commitments being re-evaluated are the ones markell got, Ben Gallacher will for sure be joining the team next year he was Oz's first commitment as a head coach and a 4th round NHL draft pick (http://video.panthers.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=-6&id=73259) and Jardine, Shine, Skoff, McCormick, and Niddery are Oz recruits. Ryan Dzingel looks like a really good player hopefully he still joins the team

I feel bad for Sophomore Forward # 25 Jeff McNeil as he played 35 games last year and he hasn't seen game ice yet. Old Coach Markell did this player no justice by over playing him last year. He hurt this player more than helped him.

Markell got hammered for not playing guys, now he over played someone. I just don't see it. McNeil played 54 games in the juniors for the 2008-09 season and 47 in 2007-08. Time to quit bringing up the past and time look forward.

Any info link to the new recruits? Also , I'm sure Goalie Cal Heeter is safe from the cuts next year.

but he did play ahead of Toy on Saturday night heck he made the trip and Toy didnt. How is that not playing ahead of someone who didnt even make the trip

Lost 8 from last year's squad and only 6 freshmen. So there is plenty of room. Arniel really doesn't count since he is not D1 quality anyway, bet he is walk on status only.

World Junior A championships are in BC in November. USA Hockey selected two future Puck Bucks to the team, Ryan Dzingel and Max McCormick. Not to be outdone the Canada West team selected two also, Sam Jardine and Ben Gallacher.

WOW , good news for the team. Talk on the streets has always been that this Coach OZ was going to go after some top young recruits. I hope they all sign on the dotted line in ink/blood. This will also make the older players work hard this year and in the off season to keep a roster spot on the team. It looks like a year to year tryout system with Coach OZ. I think it will keep the player's from getting to comfortable during the season and force them all to work harder in the gym. EH.

Tim Watson is actually Tim Davison (my bad I made an error in an earlier post) and he is now going to Wisconsin and will join them him 2013/2014 I think my previous information was very bad obviously

I have no idea who Tim Watson or Tim Davison are, but perhaps you were thinking of Cliff Watson who is from Wisconsin and will come to tOSU in 2011?

Go ahead and add Justin DaSilva to the 2011 list. At 6'5" he will at least take up some space as a d-man. Currently playing for Powell River in the BCHL, and a team mate of Chad Niddery.
