Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

Re: Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

I have a new found appreciation for some of the women's sports at the Olympics in the past few Olympiads.

I read in cnnsi that the US Women Basketball team has a chance to do something that's never been done before: five consecutive gold medals in a "major" team sport (summer only? not sure). I haven't checked though.

Rogers and Dalhausser must have watched the Norwegian curling team in Vancouver. And much like those uniforms, I really want one of these too.

OP-Remember I attended RPI in the early 60's. The only way to tell if there were any girls on campus would have been to do buccal scrapings.;)

My brother went to Brown during the same period. Pembroke is Brown's "sister" university. And he once said the two iron clad requirements for getting in to Pembroke: You have to be ugly. And you have to wear glasses. Think Fawn Liebowitz.

Kevin Love just did something not-so-good to his knee. Not sure if he just banged it or worse, but that's not good for a team with little size to begin with. Anthony Davis is now in. Game is over anyway, USA up 30 halfway through the 3rd.

To start the broadcast

Costas: Yak yak yak. Blah blah blah. And now we'll take you to an actual event. After this commercial.

Sums up NBC's coverage perfectly.

The MSNBC and NBCSN coverage is actually pretty good. Michelle Beadle is much better than I thought. She's probably happy to be away from Cowherd.

How come swimming is the only thing that gets synchronized events? They can get even more mileage out of already existing events if they add synchronized hurdles, synchronized high jump and synchronized pole vault to Track and Field events.

Do we get to nominate which pair of pole vaulters we'd like to see teamed up? :D

Especially when the competitor eliminated posted the fourth best qualifying score, and was beaten by the second- and third-best scores. If they don't want to throw it wide open, they could allow a third from a country only if they qualify in the top ten, or something like that.

I felt bad for Jordan when I heard about what happend Sunday night- about the same time you posted this.

The people were talking about it at work, and I got over it.

More talk today- yea, whatever.

Now tonight's coverage- holy cow- get OVER IT ALREADY. She's NOT going to compete for the all around, we know. It was devastating, we know.

But the "special" that they just showed was the 100th reminder tonight. ENOUGH.

Re: Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

I know! You know how she could have competed in the AA? Score better than her teammates. Too freakin' bad for her. The rules are the rules and when they don't work in our favor, this is what happens. As the current all around world champion, she should have scored better in her events. But she didn't, and that's what happened. Boo hoo. Cry me a river. I know the women won the team gold but I just saw her uneven bar routine and it was kinda awful.

Also - I actually have no problem with Ryan Seacrest outside of the Olympics but he really has no business being in London working for NBC.

Well, I'm glad I didn't see that spoiler until after it was done.

This is 3 days late, but I just saw the USA-Colombia sucker punch highlights -- and Abby Wambach not retaliating, and then scoring the goal that put the game out of reach, AND THEN FLASHING HER SWOLLEN EYE AT THE COLOMBIA BENCH AFTER THE GOAL -- man, I jumped up and cheered right here at my desk.

Geez, NBC is taking tape delay to a whole new level.

Maybe they'll leave him there.

Can we get Stu Grimson a sex change?

Yeah, I think most people get that. It's the fact that that strict standard wasn't also applied to the 20(!) other girls that failed to do that, but still get to advance. She performed more than well enough to advance and lost the opportunity because of a stupid technicality.
