I think Korea and China have something like 60 of the ~75 medals given out in it so far.
Archery was great, except for the US not getting it done.
Also, ping pong...err, excuse me..."table tennis" is an event now?

For sports I understand really well, it's been pretty refreshing not having announcers for some of the online streams. However, I found myself a little confused on a couple sports that I don't completely understand.

Edit: I figured it out. I had been blocking all third-party cookies with Chrome. For Time Warner, you need to allow ids.rr.com to set cookies or else it won't allow you to log in.
I haven't been able to log into nbcolympics with my Time Warner account. Anyone else having better luck?

Um, 1 gold in 5 tries is not exactly domination. Whatever the reason for baseball's elimination, it wasn't because the Americans were winning too much.

The reason baseball and softball were eliminated was because it was too "Americanized" from what I remember. Softball we were pretty dominant (except we lost the last one...go figure). But baseball, yeah they won 1 of the last 5 or something like that. I think they won Sydney in 2000 IIRC. Ben Sheets might have been on that team.
It's a load or horse crap if you ask me.

Softball did get criticized because of the lack of truly competitive competitions, but they pretty much got dragged along with the baseball (same federation).
(The political clout of FIFA is high enough apparently that mens soccer is still in with the odd pseudo-under-23 competition. That's been an ongoing source of frustration for the IOC; in part because their money is not sufficient to move FIFA.)
I was a bit surprised that baseball came out, because Latin America and Asia are successful at the sport, and those are parts of the world that the IOC is seeking to expand its influence. Look for baseball to be an ongoing discussion over the next decade. But I would be shocked if MLB budges.
The IOC is currently placing great pressure on sports federations to make sure their very best athletes are made available. Since Major League Baseball declined to halt its season (and I think Japan did the same (?) ) they got singled out for criticism/removal on those grounds.

France gets revenge for Lezak edging Bernard in the 4x100 relay in Beijing by Arnell tracking down Lochte to take down the USA this time. Thought we had it but what a swim by France's anchor. USA swimming seems to lack the passion this year....Almost like they are just going through the motions.

Disappointing finish for sure, but a great result for the US. Phelps had a great leg, including a tremendous turn, and Lochte may have been a bit fatigued from the 200m Freestyle semifinal just a bit earlier. Either way, I'll take a silver, and will definitely take the results today (1 gold, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze) for the U.S.

Wow....granted these are basically U-23 teams and not the full national teams, that is still an amazing result! Good for Honduras!
