Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

And let's not forget the Wii U has been a colossal failure and Nintendo is doing very poorly, as I predicted. Couple that with the rumored $70 price tag on the next gen console games and this generation could easily be a turning point in the video games industry. People want quality and they don't want to be treated like criminals. The Wii U just doesn't have the quality they desire and the other two are basically a massive money grab and middle finger to the consumer. We may have already seen the peak of the console before they slowly die off.

If they require me to register games and have an internet connection at all times, I'm going to pass on this generation. I have zero interest in supporting an industry trying to fix a problem that simply doesn't exist by destroying my enjoyment of the system.

No kidding... A video game rental operation hasn't seen my shadow since I was 16 and even then that was for a buddy who renting

And if you complain about any of this you're called "entitled."

What exactly is the problem with being "entitled" anyway? I'm "entitled" to the money I save in my bank account. My degree from Tech says "entitled to all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities thereof." Heck, there's a really old document that says we as Americans have the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and we're willing to split from England to secure those rights - ENTITLED BRATS THE LOT OF THEM!

gamefly.com isn't an option?

gamefly.com isn't an option?

I haven't considered it because I haven't cared to rent... Nor have I heard of the website.

Restricting secondary sale or secondary use is silly... I'll admit it right now... Most of my "gaming" time is spent playing flash games.

Different ideas, no to limited monetary commitment... I'd love to play the great games, I haven had a chance to play a proper final fantasy game as I've never had the right console, I feel like I'm being locked out of a great and interesting story.

*sigh*

I don't play a lot of console games anymore as I know I have to go out and live a real life, but I wish they'd try harder to make it worth my while.

I see in the article about social vs. anti-social... I don't feel I need to be social in the gaming environ... So sue me... I have to have my intellect and skill intrigued... Online isn't a necessity, its an option, an accessory, added value but not primary content.

Let people think what they want, if you provide a strong useful avenue people will always follow... Make them follow and the result will be resentment

XBox 720 = always-on connection required

PS4 = 799 US DOLLARS /Kaz

Wii U = nothing earth shaking

We might be headed for another 1983 with regards to consoles. The market will move to smartphones/tablets.

If the AppleTV allows apps soon, you can kiss the consoles as we know them goodbye.

A combination Wii/AppleTV would be a killer media device.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Do you guys really see app-based gaming replacing consoles? I guess they're OK as occasional time killers, but if I want a serious gaming session, there's nothing app based (that I've seen or heard of, anyway) that comes anywhere near a good Skyrim/Mass Effect/Shooter of choice/Whatever. It's like a protein bar vs. Thanksgiving dinner.

Not that I like them heading towards an always-on setup. That's just a bad idea.

I think there needs to be a confirm button for using premium items/currency in mobile games. I just lost most of my doughnuts in Simpsons: Tapped Out due to my fumbling fingers. Oops. Oh well.

What did you buy?

Uh, there's a confirm button in the game. You have to change the options for it. I believe it was added as a feature this past weekend. :)

I can sympathize. I've done it once or twice already in the game. Usually it's just a "hurry up" on a house or something. I can't say I've lost more than a few donuts at a time.

I upped a level on the Whacking Day prizes. So, I spent 60 doughnuts for snake rocks. What's worse is that I was already halfway there.

I **** well better get all of the bonus stuff now. :D

edit: I should point out that I haven't spent any money to buy doughnuts, so I'm not too upset. It's just a bummer because I was close to getting a premium building. Like I said, oh well.

I have now turned that on. :)

Far Cry: Blood Dragon
Fun and full of awesomeness. One of the best values out there for a new game at only $15.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Bought Poker Night at the Inventory 2, and got all of the PS3 themes and Borderlands 2 customizations in under 2 days.

The Psycho class comes out next week (May 14th), as the 6th and probably final playable character for Borderlands 2. It will be $9.99 and is not part of the Season Pass. My gunzerker is only level 51 (of 61). But the 3rd playthru is ridiculous, especially if you try it alone.

Been getting back in to LittleBigPlanet2 this week also. I always have fun building levels. Made a pretty nice war based one.
