If you end up subscribing, you mind entering me as a referral if you can? I get some goodies out of it, I think.
Maybe, I'm still not sold on it since my computer doesn't run it all that well. But i'm going to play around and see if I can disable some stuff.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Playstation Blog comments are dumb. No matter what topic is on the blog, all the comments whine about the store being down. As if the blog page is somehow connected to the store team.

They have a post on the final 16 contestants in GT5 Academy. It would be sweet to get to race real cars based on your skill in a video game.

Rift have higher spec requirements then the updated version of WoW:C?

For Twitch (and the rest of you):

As the owner of a Jeep Wrangler, that doesn't apply because I will never have anything in said mirror.

/takes an act of God to make it go 80

Cataclysm for all that they added graphically is still the same engine as when WoW first came out. As long as you're not doing 25 man raids, you can get by easily.

Rift requires a bunch of eye candy tricks in order to look decent. The textures and such themselves are not high quality, but turn on a bunch of fancy graphics options and suddenly it does. I was trying to go in and disable some extra stuff but the config file doesn't exist for some reason. Can also put is in dx9 mode instead of trying to be dx11.

Overall Rift doesn't have a very efficient engine.

Try running Monaco in B-Spec. It's impossible to win because HE WILL NOT PASS. PERIOD. And then he gets frustrated and eats it at the tunnel chicane. (Granted, it's also next to impossible to pass there in real F1 as well.)
The only way I won that race on A-Spec (in a Shelby GT350) was getting ahead of the 2J in the first and block like mad until the 2J *'s up.

Looking to replace out Turtle Beach X1 headphones for the X-Box. We like the idea of the wireless X31, but are concerned about interference and battery life. The X-box is connected wirelessly to our router as sometimes is our laptop computer. Additionally, there is another wireless network nearby. Does anybody have experience with wireless headphones? How much should we be concerned about interference? (The other set under consideration is the wired X11, however our current set quickly get tangled up....)

If it's dummyproof, I may look into it.

It's dummyproof. Did the topspeed slider thing for the Daytona truck race (won a Ram w/Hemi, maxed it out since I had money to burn; acceleration was awesome, top speed didn't hold out, so then I gave in and did the slider bar). Maxed out top speed. Still only won by about 1/2 a second, and that was flooring it the whole way.

Thanks again, guys!

Also did this gear thing with my old Corvette ('69, IIRC) to win the seasonal Muscle Car event on the Daytona track. You want easy grinding money? That race is it: $101K for less than 5 minutes of your time (avg lap should be about 51 seconds, 5 lap race). Had about $3.8MM and grinded up to get the GT F1 car, which was about $4.3MM in the online used vehicle dealership. That car is rather nice.

I know you're a PS2 guy as well, so a game you might like: the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series.

Budget title where you do highway racing on the Wangan highway outside Tokyo. Instead of a finish line, you each have a life bar, and when you're ahead you drain the other guy's life bar. There's like 400 different opponents for you to beat, and they all have different conditions for when they'll come out. Think highway racing combined with a fighting game combined with Pokemon. It also has spectacularly cheesy music.

Meh. I only play 2-3 games on my PS2 anymore (even before I bought the PS3) on a regular basis, and maybe 1-2 more very rarely. I should see if the PS3 has Super Slappy Monkey F*Nuts, and if they do, I wonder if they have more mini-games that are as awesome as the Hamster Ball Flying Game that SSMFN has on PS2. :D

Maybe after summer I'll look into that Forza game you have a chubby over, and some others. GT5 (and I assume all the other games) of the PS3 that I would be interested in are so in-depth/time consuming, unlike in years past, that I am not getting bored with it at all, even when grinding. Minor annoyance, sure, but no different than past generations of games.

Got my hopes when I turned on the Xbox and got taken to the dashboard, but alas, my fiance watched a movie and didn't put the game back in (and left said game lying out not in a case ).

Dump her, she's not worth it ;)

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I only managed to get 221 of 222 points back in the day, and it took a LOT of work. The game was actually my mom's, and her and one of my best friend's (some of you know Big Poppa) mom tried to figure the game out. Once they found out we played the game when they weren't home, we all got together to try and win the game. :D

A couple years ago, I found an emulator for the game, along with a complete walkthrough to get all the points. Unfortunately, the emulator didn't come with any sort of "save" option. It's needed because of the blackjack sequence (takes a lot of luck to get the money you need at the casino).

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

It's taking some effort due to everyone being on at the same time, but I am managing to download some of the free content Playstation is offering.

I chose InFamous (7gb) and WipEout HD+Fury DLC (1.7gb) for my PS3 games. I can trade in/sell my physical copy of InFamous and put it towards something else (Maybe brent will want it). Also got LittleBigPlanet (1gb) and ModNation Racers (1gb) for PSP, both of which integrate with the PS3 versions that I have.

I didn't bother with the 3 movies they offered to 'rent' for free as I own them.

The PSHome stuff was OK. A lot of clothes and items to fill your personal spaces with. You do get the mansion garage space, but the other 3 spaces cost $14.99 ea to complete the mansion. I already own some cheaper personal spaces that seem more fun (The London Pub for example). They also give you the Dragon's Lair free, but it isn't that nice.

The 30-days of Plus so far just let me download a few free themes since I didn't want any of the crappy games they had for free, and don't own the games for the free DLC they are offering.

I declined a friend request yesterday because I couldn't tell who it was. Sorry, if it was someone here. Gotta leave a note!
