Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Was downloading the 'welcome back' content to my PS3 yesterday (inFamous) when my hard drive failed. System hung up when trying to do a shut down, held the power button down for about 10 seconds and it restarted itself, gave me a "hard drive is corrupt" message. Tried doing all of the restore options on the safe mode screen - no luck. New hard drive on the way from Amazon now. Not sure what I'm going to do with 320 gb of space - I probably only used 20 of the original 80gb hard drive it had.

I just filled my 80gb. So I too ordered a new HDD. Ended up getting the 500gb WD from NewEgg for $54.

Now I can actually put music, games and movies on there instead of just DLC and save content.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

It's a Wii with HD and an iPad. Looks like yet another console from Nintendo I won't use.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

ME3 now has an official release date: March 6, 2012.

New trailer out, too.

Also, the announced the collector's edition: steel case, soundtrack, hardbound art book, extra DLC, and a few other random goodies.

I'm a sucker for soundtracks, so I'll probably get it even though I'm sure the soundtrack will become available through iTunes at some point.

Despite that it will probably outsell Sony and Microsoft again.

Much like Apple, it seems like anything they put out for hardware is a success.

And it's fully compatible with all the games and remotes/nunchucks anyone's had to buy for the Wii.

One live blog I saw said that a golf game was previewed where the user saw the golf ball on the new Wii-U remote/tablet, placed the tablet at his feet, and teed off with a wiimote. The ball disappeared from the tablet and appeared in flight on the presentation TV.

A LOT of third party "mature" games were announced for the system upon launch:
Darksiders (THQ)
Dirt (Codemasters)
Aliens: Colonial Marines (Sega)
Ghost Recon Online (Ubisoft)
Metro: Last Light (THQ)
Tekken (Namco Bandai)
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (Tecmo)

And, EA said they would be building online into their sports games. Oh, and it sounded like Wii friend codes will be obsolete.

Unfortunately this is true. And Nintendo does the same thing as Apple, release something then a few years later change it a little bit and release it for more money from suckers.

Saw this video, it was Wii Sports golf with the tablet on the floor showing the lie of the ball. Fairly ho hum actually.

Here's the question: Will anyone who is a "core gamer" really trade in playing these games on a 360 or PS3 to play on the Wii U?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Is Nintendo TRYING to get made fun of?
Nintendo cares not for your mocking whilst swimming through their swimming pools of money.

Also, **** COD. Never played Bad Company but it looks like they finally made gun play not require 50 bullets to put someone down.

Nintendo's new system can be competitive with Sony/MS if they pack in the standards -- Upgradable HDDs, HD video, 8+ button controller -- and then make sure their processing power and graphics output are 'at least' above the current gen.

That would make the Wii U viable for at least another 4 years.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Graphics look fine though it'll depend more on the developer.

(video quality isn't as good as what was shown on tv)

Call of Duty MW and MW2 are half price today on Steam. DLC as well. So you PC shooter fans can get your fix! :)

Well from reading the press the hardware is supposed to be more powerful. The controller seems to have standard buttons but that looks *ing horrible to handle. And no HDD, Flash Cards only.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Installed my new 500 GB HDD to my PS3. It went much easier than I expected. Although I did enough reading I was over prepared for the task. After partitioning and formatting with the PS3 OS I ended up with about 415 GB of space to use.
