Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Alice Madness Returns, perfect example of how well games will run when properly optimized. Even on lower quality settings it's visually impressive and absolutely ****ing horrifying. Some of the levels on this thing are completely deranged and with gore that makes the blood halls in Doom 3 look like kiddy rides. Never thought I'd be horrified about random fish people I can't even talk to get killed but seeing them all slung up after the Walrus has them gutted actually made me have to take a break from playing.

The platforming isn't exactly great but the combat is pretty solid and a few of the weapons feel really good to use.

Saw the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, game at Best Buy tonight. If you play it through before Midnight on Thursday, will it spoil the movie??????

Have you read the book? If so, then nothing would be spoiled. :)

I was interested in that game, but having not played the 1st one I didn't want to drop $50 on it. I wonder if there is a demo available?

First one is kind of unplayable ****. Used the quake 3 engine and was endlessly frustrating. The collectors edition comes with the original.

It's reasonably long. I was playing it all yesterday and I still have a fair amount to go.

Problem solved! $29.99 on Amazon. :)

Anymore than the book that's been out for years? Probably not.
Also, if you can't guess the end, then you're really something special.

The boat sinks?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

The entire thing took place in the imagination of an autistic child looking at a snowglobe.

But that was just a dream brought on by Chinese food, which ended when he woke up next to Suzanne Pleshette.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So this is probably off the radar for most people, but its worth a mention in case.

If you own Railworks 2 (or buy it in the next month or two) on Steam you will get a free upgrade to Railworks 3 on September 23rd. All DLC for 2 are compatible with 3. Pretty sweet considering RW2 is cheap ($29.99 retail) and it and its DLC goes on sale fairly often.

I don't play it a ton, but its a pretty good train simulation and has some complex controls that you can use for the scenarios or free play.

Star Wars: KoToR (online) Collector's Edition is available for pre-order starting today. Too bad its $149! Just because it has a stupid statue that 95% of the people couldn't care less about.

I put $10 on Forza 4 Collector's Edition which has something like 25 extra cars included in it. It's priced at $79.99.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Ohh just saw this on Steam.

Civilization V is only $17.00 (-66%) for the weekend.
The deluxe bundle is only $20.40.

Who has the best deals on Xbox Live? Amazon and Newegg are both $48.99 and Amazon has it for instant download. Any other websites cheaper?

I'd check to see if you have to pay tax. That may alter who has the best prices.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

The OXM report on XBL has a Saints Row: The Third preview. It is absolutely ridiculous (as in awesome). Check it out next time you log in (Inside Xbox section).

The highlights:
- Boxing gloves that make the person explode (flesh & blood) on a single hit.
- Air strikes to destroy entire gangs.
- A truck that sucks people up as you drive over them and lets you shoot them out of a cannon mounted on top.
- Takedown moves instead of just standard fighting
- Jumping in to cars by jumping through the side window (breaking it).
- Flying a jet about 30 ft off the ground through the city.
- Interactive dancing with NPC's

:D

Of course I'm supposed to pay use tax no matter what, but I don't think Amazon or Newegg apply it to Michigan purchases.

I'm assuming you can still kick people in the nuts?
