Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Seriously, no one has any comments on this? I'm really trying to understand if its good to have a high BR AGG?
I would say you would want it if you are going for a doubles hitter, lead off guy, or stolen base speedster.

But if you are just hitting HR or are big and slow, is BR AGG really going to come into play that often?

Are you just guessing? I'm not really sure how baserunning aggresiveness (what I assume that stands for) is really a positive thing?

I am guessing. Because I don't think I've ever bothered raising it on any of my playthroughs and haven't noticed any negative impacts.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I finished the Solo Story in Portal 2 today.

Took about 12 hours total....

My only complaint is that the credits song wasn't as good as the first game, haha.

Absolutely stunning game. Best I've played in a long, long time.

So basically they made the Wii to cash in on suckers and are now going to build a real console, fascinating.
Uhm, nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, nintendo wii....playstation, ps2, ps3...xbox, xbox360...its what happens in the busines. You act like this is a new thing.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

This has been a pretty long generation. It just seems short because technology moves so fast.

Playstation - 1994
Playstation 2 - 2000
Playstation 3 - 2006
?? - 2014

N64 - 1996
Gamecube - 2001
Wii - 2006
Wii 2 - 2012

Xbox - 2001
Xbox 360 - 2005
?? - 2014

eta: Plus the 360 had at least 3 versions and the PS3 had 2 in this gen. So its not like that isn't a total money grab.

I hope Nintendo stops with the gimmicky graphics. I get it, you wanted to market the Wii to families with kids, but at some point you have to realize compared to the other two, your graphics are awful.

Whoever has the prettiest graphics has the best games!

I would imagine that because you are controlling the runner, the only time aggressiveness comes into play is how far the runner goes off of base on a fly ball or possibly how large of a secondary lead they get. I'd love my player to have better baserunning acceleration and for me to get better on telling faster if a line drive will be a hit or an out.

Oh I hate lineouts and fly balls when I'm suppose to judge things. Makes it even tougher when I play with the speaker on mute and have no real sense of whats going on around me :P

Always arguing for the PC aren't you. :p :D
That actually bugged me about Portal 2, they got rid of the quick reaction sections so that console players would actually be able to complete the game.

No reason to do that, they could of just used the same technics that FPS games use where the game actually assists you with movements that you couldn't do on your own. In FPS games the aiming reticle actually slows down as you move over the body of an enemy giving you a chance to stop and shoot, as well as move quickly from one to the next and be accurate.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Ok, Red Dead is like GTA? * that. I like challenging games, but GTA was way too *ing complicated and deep to have fun with. I saw Yager's roommate playing it one day, and it looked interesting, but if it's that in depth, forget it.

Obviously, I'll probably end up getting the sports games, and I still have my PS2, so adding PS3 games will be a slow process, in the way that if I think about it, I'll pick up a game here and there.

The Fallout games sound interesting.

They did put that in to an extent. The portals are all relatively sticky and will pop up in more specific locations.

Can't say I see what the big deal is. Nintendo's systems tend to have worse graphics than Sony and Microsoft, but they also cost less (both the systems and the games), and they make some great games nonetheless. Seems pretty clear that there's room in the market for all three.

Exactly. If you want fun cartoony games (mostly for the family) you bought a Nintendo. If you wanted realistic games, with some bloody/graphic/whatever video, you bought Sony or now XBox. Not a big deal.

Sarcasm anyone?
