Well, that was pleasant.

Walk around the back of the saloon in Armadillo and a guy is taking a piss against the side of the building.

I'm on the RDR forum and reading the interesting ways to kill people. I drowned a man, but you can be much more creative. I'm going to have to try the bait trick. Hogtie someone, take them up to cougar country, spread bait and then drop them in the middle of it...

Take them to Tall Trees and maybe this can happen.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

wtf, how am i going to disarm any 6 enemies without changing weapons or reloading (sharpshooter 10)?

Survivalist 9 isn't hard of course, but its tedious. 15 plants!

Also on kill 2 cougars with a knife and get pelts. So far I've killed one and ones killed me.

ETA: finally killed the 2nd cougar, and now own the Buffalo Rifle. Too bad I killed all the buffalo already. :D

Splinter Cell Conviction

Singleplayer isn't as short as some reviews say. It just seems shorter than other games because of how ridiculously fast you move. Gone the way of the dinosaurs is moving at a speed less than sprint even while crouched.

They've definitely slimmed down the controls to nothing. Most likely because it's a bad console port. (Little was done to optimize the engine at all) Having the game instantly do the action based on context made for a lot of headaches where you burst through a window when you wanted to open it silently. Or you open and close a door exposing yourself to guards instead of jumping up to a pipe overhead.

The weapons caches where you can upgrade and select weapons are basically useless after the 2nd map because I upgraded the pistol I wanted which gave me the most execute targets, and you either can't run out of ammo or they expect you to use so much that any normal person isn't going to run out.

All of the guards are annoying beyond belief. They constantly make comments specifically about you and often generic stuff about what you did earlier in the game. It's almost funny since they seem to compliment you in a way... before you kill them. Outside of a couple interrogations, you simply move through an area killing all the guards, then go on to the next one.

Certainly worth a rental, but not a buy.

Whoever sent me the rep (unsigned) about where to sell in Mexico... Pick a town! :D

There is plenty of places to sell items. Escalera, Chuparosa, Casa Madrugada.

Thought you had extra :D

Where are the general stores in each town? They aren't marked on the map, and I've looked through every freaking room in two towns and haven't found a shopkeeper yet. These damm wolf pelts are getting heavy :p

In Mexico all the general stores are outside as far as I recall. They are usually just tables with a guy behind them. Also, they are marked on the map when they are open. Maybe you are there too early in morning or too late at night.

Worst case you could cross back over the border. Just use Improved campsite and then fast travel to a town you know.

Weird. The general stores in the US show up on the map, but none in Mexico. I just left Las Hermidas (after giving the nun $10:p) after unsuccessfully going through every room in the place. I'll try a save...maybe the shopkeepers will spawn :p

The save worked...apparently they didn't spawn :p

how do you even track survivalist 10?

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

how do you even track survivalist 10?

Survivalist 10 is just asking you to get 2 of each plant that each of the other levels of survivalist had you collect, and 10 of the snowdrops.

So just go back to the areas the others were in.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

:)

Finally got 100% completion on GTA IV. I am done with the game for good now, starting RDR tomorrow. Excited!

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Played around with the Blur demo for a while.

It's NPB, fun if you just want to pick up a controller and fire off a few quick races. Online supports up to 20 people at once. Pretty easy to level up even if you can't win, and it looks like you can prestige once you hit 50 so that gives it some depth.

Biggest problem is that everyone gets all spaced apart after about a lap so there isn't much real competition. You get 2 or 3 breakaways who can't catch each other and a bunch of people playing murderdeathkill at the back of the pack. It's the WCHA of racing games.

Finished top half of the pack on the n00b server with an occasional win.

Do you think Split Second is/will be better? Since thats actually based on muderdeathkill in a gameshow like setting.

Haven't played Split Second so I can't really say. I'd think Split Second has more of a strategy element to it I suppose.

From what I've seen on GameFAQs Blur seems to have more of the fan following.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Does anyone use the PS3 DVD remote?

Any good? Worth while?

And does it work with the Netflix streaming playback?

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

I've been getting glitchy loads...first the storekeepers didn't spawn, then I had a flying John Marston :D His legs didn't move when he walked, so it looked like he was flying everywhere. The downside is he wouldn't move after dismounting until I jumped.

Beat four guys to win a poker game...the last guy called all-in with a bluff...very intelligent. :D
