Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

So far my Memorial Day weekend plans are looking like I might be going to the Yankee game on Saturday, and that is all. Perhaps some RDR in my future? I kind of don't like sitting inside playing video games, regardless of how awesome they might be, on long weekends, especially with nice weather.

Outdoors is for hippies! :D

Plus in a game like RDR you are virtually outdoors all the time!

RDR fun stuff: So I've cleared through Mexico and now I'm up in Blackwater which means hunting gets a lot more interesting if you end up in Great Plains or Tall Trees. Great Plains has beavers and buffaloes roaming about and Tall Trees has cougars, bighorn sheep and big f-cking bears.

One mission I've done up there required me to climb up rocks to get to a lookout point. I climbed up to one level and could hear a bear growling near by. I proceeded cautiously as I knew it was somewhere close. Yeah, it was feasting on a bighorn sheep so it was time to put down the bear. I skinned the bighorn and the bear and kept moving up. On the next level up on the mountain there's a cougar pouncing on a bighorn. It made a move to pounce me but I shot it mid-jump. INTENSE!

ha. i'm still in mexico. the funniest thing i saw was one of those banditos being chased by two cops through the desert, but the little coyotes were chasing him too. when the cops finally shot the bandito down, the coyotes turned and started chasing them instead... one bit the cop and was hanging on to his arm until the other cop shot him off. it was hysterical.

Seriously? A college hockey video game. (For reals!) ok, so they are teams in an existing game but still...

Edit: I see this is also posted in the Division 1 Hockey Forum.

Makes sense for college hockey to get in on this too, there's no need to allow the CHL to steal all the thunder here. It's pretty clear to me that the CHL was jumping on board with this was their way of sending a shot across the bow of the NCAA as far as being more marketable.

They still have an edge though since players faces and likenesses can be on the game from the CHL. That Ed O'Bannon law suit against the NCAA could be a game changer though depending on whether or not the NCAA wants to keep up the facade of being amateur and not there for marketing players.

Awesome. Random crap like that will keep things moving along even after you finish the game. We have to get the online posse going here soon and start raiding some hideouts.

no doubt. mexico has some serious glitches.. when i first got there, the D showed up for de santa, but i missed how i was even introduced to him. it took me a while to realize i was working for both the rebels and the army.

then when i was on the mission with the army general to protect the train, i chose not to skip to destination (the train) to see what the general would say on the ride. and as expected the rebels attacked the convoy.. i killed them all and the general goes 'i cant believe we havent seen any rebels yet'. which was odd (and wrong) - then the convoy inexplicably came to a complete stop for no reason and wouldnt move. so i finally had to shoot the horse in front and purposely failed the mission. on the reset, there was in fact no rebels until the convoy stopped again - which made more sense; after we took them out again, it progressed to the scene on the train.

not to mention, when they first attacked it was while the general was talking, so the cut away stopped short (he was complaining about de santa being a dbag)

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Yeah lots of people are seeing all sorts of weird glitches, although a lot of them are graphical ones and often really, really, really hilarious.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Pretty sure NJJerseyJohn has it on PS3. Not sure what SteveF's is rolling with.

JF, Gonzo and I are 360 people.

I have a PS3, although I haven't picked up RDR (....yet). :p

Actually it looks like I might have plans (see a few posts ago) this weekend which might postpone the purchase.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Wow racing against other players (MNR) really shows if the tracks you make are broken or not.

Thankfully only 1 of the 3 I made is broken. The other two work great, although they still have spots that could use improvement.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

If true, this might just be the straw that makes me break down and save up for a 360 or PS3.
If true then this is the straw that will provide EA a stranglehold on the hockey video game market.
