Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Triple threat? Not needed. A very capable 3rd goalie if an emergency arises? Sure.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Yes a triple, threat. I am not saying 3 rotating starters, I am more looking for what you are, Oswego has rarely had a third guy capable of doing anything other than opening the door for line changes. Eddie will go with the hot had as always but it's nice to know that if the other two get hurt, or just plain aren't playing well the third guy will be able to step in and fill in. And it's also nice to see that Sawyer is pushing the other two vs. just being there for show like a few of the others lately.

Does anyone know if the tribute video shown during the second intermission last night is online anywhere?

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

The Alumni Weekend I think was a huge success and I hope they continue this in years following. It was really nice to talk to some of the players prior to my time. The games could have been a bit more competitive but for the 50th celebration I think it was appropriate to have Canton and Naz play for their coaches are part of Laker History.
Coach Gilligan has a lot of work to do but I thought Canton hung tough until they scores and then something clicked and the flood gates opened but I was nicely surprised they Canton played us so well into the Second period.
Naz. was a nice test for use and they did well after the first period. Coach Roll is doing a great job with his team and they will surprise a few before the season is done.
To echo the above posts Galati is a dual threat on the power play with his big shot. He made several really nice set up passes from his spot. This means the other teams will have to play honest and just not focus on him with his shot. The better clubs will figure out how to cut down his touches on the PP but he will get his shots just because of the nice passing that is done on the PP.

Coach Gilligan is a great guy and I think keep giving it a few more years and he'll get things going there if he gets the support from the school.

One thing is for sure, if you don't work your butt off, you're not going to play for a Trevor Gilligan coached team. That's the type of player he was while playing and I'm sure it echoes in his coaching style.

Nazareth has already surprised some teams..they started doing it at the end of last season and they already have a win over Utica this season. The Golden Flyers are legit and they'll be a tough out for anybody from here on out. I'm excited to see them in the 2017 Northfield Savings Bank Tournament at Norwich.

Really looking forward to seeing Oswego next Saturday at the Dome! Hope they put on a show in front of a big crowd.

2017 will be 14 years since a George Roll coached team was at Norwich??

He may have been that kind of player, but he is certainly not that kind of coach. Too young to have control of players.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

I took this up with the Alumni Office after reading your post - here is what I got back....

Hi Lou,

Thanks for sharing.

Everyone who registered through us for Frozen Dome Classic tickets was notified in their confirmation emails that tickets would be available for pick up at Will Call. Furthermore, anyone who has called our office or emailed us has been told that tickets will be available for pick up at Will Call, and that we are working with the Crunch to confirm the date that folks can begin to pick them up. But it's always been a definite that they are picking them up at Will Call.

So, I'm not sure what this message is referring to, honestly! We, of course, have been telling folks who call/email what is going on. My only thought is that they've called and emailed the Crunch and not received a response back from them?

Hope this helps. Thanks, Lou!

I do not doubt you could have reached someone on the phone who was not informed, but at least you know where your tickets are....if you did not get a confirmation email, you may have bigger problems...?

Thanks for checking on this, Lou. I do have the confirmation email. Here is where the confusion comes in, and maybe you can pass this along to the alumni office. My friends and I each bought a few seats. We bought the tickets at different times. We would like to sit together, and when we asked if we could combine our seats, we were told "It shouldn't be a problem, but we won't know until we have the tickets in hand." Well, they don't have the tickets in hand, they're at will call. So, my friend called the alumni office last week and asked if we could have out seats put together, it was THEN that the person said they weren't sure but they would check.

Either way, we all have seats and it will be awesome to see the Lakers in the dome!

When I was talking to Fitzgerald he got a good chuckle out of my comment in that I told him they should sell off the jerseys and who wouldn't want a Fitzy jersey.
Some of the Buffalo gang was there but most had last minute stuff happen I was told. ie. one had surgery Wednesday.

Student Broadcasts Set for Frozen Dome Classic

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- When Oswego State men's ice hockey makes history Nov. 22 during the first-ever collegiate hockey game at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome, Oswego alumni and Laker fans will be able to tune in and cheer from their homes around the world, thanks to live broadcasts by student-run television station WTOP and student-run radio station WNYO.

The live student broadcasts of the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oswego will play Utica College at 3 p.m., preceding the 7 p.m. professional hockey game that matches the Syracuse Crunch against the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Laker fans in Central New York can tune into the WTOP broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 325 or online at http://oswegolakers.com/watch/?Live=280. Or they can listen online to WNYO's broadcast at http://www.wnyo889.org/.

While the two student media outlets cover every home game at the Marano Campus Center arena, this will be just WTOP's second remote broadcast in the past two years. WTOP covered the men's ice hockey SUNYAC Championship game last season from Geneseo, bringing the contest to over 6,000 web streamers who watched the Lakers win their second-straight conference crown. With the college's support, WTOP will be able to use TWC's professional equipment for the live remote broadcast taking place this weekend at the Carrier Dome.

The Crunch and Comets will break the AHL's single-game indoor attendance record that was set in 1997 as 20,672 fans watched Carolina beat Kentucky 5-4 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

With more than 25,000 tickets for the Crunch-Comet game already sold, the Crunch will now attempt to break the U.S. indoor pro-hockey mark of 28,183. That record was set at the Thunderdome on April 23, 1996, as the Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning (the current NHL affiliate of the Crunch) squared off in an NHL playoff game. The No. 2-ranked Oswego State Lakers are asking that all of their 10,000 to 15,000 fans in attendance stay through the first period of the Comets-Crunch game to help break the record.

The ice rink will be set up similarly to the Carrier Dome's basketball configuration. Using this layout, the renowned Carrier Dome can seat more than 30,000 fans.

Laker fans who plan on attending the game live can stop by the pre-game reception from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center. For registration details, visit alumni.oswego.edu/frozendomeclassic.
