I second. Anyone have any information on who is playing? Theres a lot of competition on this roster. A "star" will sit out a game for some reason or other and we get so concerned but then the freshman who took his spot scores 2 goals and an assist. This team is made up of 90% offensive weapons.

Quiet...there was some social media requests from folks close to the program to limit/refrain from injury talk and speculation out of respect to the players and their families, aka "keep your mouths shut". It seems to be working.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Blue line club members were asked to not broadcast who was banged up. Who is or who is not suiting up. It makes good sense that the coaching staff wants to keep that to themselves. I was asked all week at my office, we attended both away games last week, how bad are the injuries? Many of our players come from many miles away. It is difficult for their parents to attend all games. It is tough for a parent to read about their son, who is banged up before the kid has a chance to actually tell them himself.
With the talent this team has on the bench, there will be plenty to step up

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

For me its more if the player is OK, we have the luxury at Oswego of late to have many player who can fill in. Having played and had injuries I always hope the player can play as soon as physically possible, as there are not to many games at this level......soon to be less?? ...ps I dont think things are being" broadcasted" as there are not to many people who frequent these threads, but I understand the coaches/parents POV.

Definitely understand. We have to remember that these guys are human beings and students first. They're not professional athletes that are public figures that should have their personal lives debated on ESPN. They'll come back from injury when they come back from injury. We will see them play when they are healthy and ready to play.

The guys play so well and the games are so entertaining we sometimes forget this ISN'T professional hockey.

You may not get how this internet thing works, but everything is "broadcasted" . Don't post what you wouldn't mind having everyone in the world seeing and/or reading ;)

And you'd be surprised how many coaches, players, fans, families, adminstrators, ect, ect, come across these boards.... just because they aren't posting, doesn't mean they aren't perusing.

I don't know what team that was that came out for the second period tonight but I hope we never see it again this season.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Second period was horrible. We need to work on defense this week. We have some defensive players that hopefully can get back in the lineup.
Mackenzie Sawyer saved our butt in goal. We now can say we have three very good goalies.
On another note the ref from last weeks Buffalo game was back in Oswego last night. I would like to offer him a wonderful Christmas gift. An all expense paid trip to Bang Kok, Thailand ONE WAY

Agreed...in this league you cannot take any team for granted and you can't take any period off...a teaching moment I expect the coaching staff will drive home this week as the program's 50th Anniversary weekend approaches....

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

I really thought there would be more discussion on the goalie situation. Caught the 3rd period only, what's the word on the new kid?

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Not bad, breaking in new pads which is tough. He was a bit nervous at times and the team let him down more than once. I saw nothing from him that says he is inferior to the other two.

I liked Sawyer. The kid has some nice moves and pulled off some mind-blowing saves at some key times. Two of the goals against him were garbage goals wherein his mobility was blocked by another player being in the way. He let out some rebounds that I wish he wouldn't have, but the game is volatile. Some days you just can't seem to gather the rebounds. Other days you feel like superglue.

Overall, I like where he's going and I see no reason he couldn't contend to be a starter in future years. I'm very comfortable having him as a backup for if Gilly or Z get hurt. Next year, I say it's fair game for any of the three to claim the starter spot.

I think it speaks volumes that Gosek could've waited to put Sawyer in the Canton game, which would count for virtually nothing, but chose to put him in an important SUNYAC game. The Canton game is probably the least important (statistically or standing-wise) game of the entire season, and would've been a safe throwaway to give to the rookie goalie. If not Canton, then another non-conference game like Nazareth, Tufts, So. New Hampshire, Stonehill, etc. But instead, they put him in a SUNYAC game where a loss would mean losing the #1 spot in the SUNYAC standings, and could have season-wide implications if Oswego fails to go at least .500 with Genny/Platty. This tells me that what Gosek has seen him doing in practice is probably even better than what we saw on Saturday.

Not that anyone here noticed or cared, but Oswego bumped up to #2 on the USCHO poll ranking. Wisconsin-Stevens Point lost a heartbreaker of a game against St. Olaf in which they badly outshot their opponent (50 shots total, 21 in the 2nd period alone), but allowed a 5x3 PPG in the second half of the 3rd period that broke the tie and ended up being the gamewinner.

Genny took two losses on the weekend and is going to be looking for blood this weekend. Hopefully they'll get all their anger out on Brockport and Cortland and be all tuckered out for our game with them in a couple weeks.

News of Plattsburgh's demise as the perennial powerhouse of the SUNYAC may have been exaggerated. They may be a squad known for their defense, but to come back from a 3 goal deficit (against Genny, mind you) with 6 consecutive goals? If you're not scared of that team, you're not smart.

Apparently the new thing for our team is the combo of 1 goal, 2 assists. Neil, Hulshof, Botten, and Galati all had that scoreline last game. All of them are sophomores, so we get another 2 years of these monsters as they make a run for the 100 point club. Lovin it.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

to much puck watching in our dzone, they need to pick up a man.......I think the dzone coverage will come as the season moves on.....we also let Cort into our offensive zonae waaaay to ez on their powerplays.....would like to see the adams/bonner and whomever line get some scoring going...coach G and D must have a hardtime picking the line-up,dont know how they do it.........Davies anybody???? Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

A bit late on the game Friday but the Frosh in goal did a really nice job and the team let him down in the 2nd and the junk goal to end the game. Ed has a tough delema with 3 very capable goalies. Friday's game sort of went as usual against a team that they should have no problem with. Seen it to many times.
Liked what I saw from the freshmen who were out there. Neil if he can stay health just might be that X factor the Lakers could have needed in the Final Four.
Hope the regulars on D get health soon.
Only surprise on this roster was that Kim-Swallow is on the team and not P. Rod. I thought P. Rod had some good physical play last year and that is always a good thing.

To All Vets Happy VETERAN"S Day and thank you for YOUR SERVICE AND YOUR FAMILY'S SACRIFICE.

Neil is my pick for top scorer,if not he will be 2nd behind Botten and yes he could have made a BIG difference in the FF and more specifically on the Powerplay,as I mentioned in the Platty thread we have been out special teamed the last 5 yrs in the Final 4,special teams are often a bounce or 2........You nailed the goalie situation 3 will be hard to rotate?? p.s. as a old school defensive dman I think we need to get meaner IFO our net,as clint eastwood said"Sometimes you have to get plum mad dog mean" forget about the puck and plant the guy.

You are so correct. On Cortland's third goal everyone just watched as the Cortland player skated around until he found someone. The D'Corp's might need to look at some old film of Some guy who wore a #5, Greeney, and A guy named Gilmartin. # 5 you are dead on with your statement !!!
