I thought our team played well, they had a hot goalie who stoped everything they threw at him, he really did make some amazing saves. on the other hand Gilbert really wasn't that great in the first. Bad rebound control cost us that game

Not being able to pass, accept a pass, or hit open nets were major factors in the loss. Green played well but he spilled a ton of rebounds but Oswego just doesn't seem to want to get dirty in front of the net. Waterstreet and Titanic are the only guys that consistently go to the dirty areas, everyone else seemed content to play in the quiet zones off to the sides and behind the net. They spent a ton of time watching the puck, didn't forecheck for squat, never forced Brockport to make a mistake, didn't take advantage of their unforced mistakes, didn't force them to take penalties, didn't win many board battles, got little traffic in front of the net, didn't attack Brockport with speed, didn't take care of the front of their own net and the list goes on. If you call that playing well then you have some pretty low standards.

I am not being overly harsh here and I know it is an inexperienced team, but they played 50 times better earlier in the year than they are now. The lineup was a tad weak this weekend but I felt like the guys that play all the time looked worse than the guys that don't.

They have figured out how to win and they have figured out how not to, now they need to decide which one they want to do.

we seem to be running into ' hot goalies" dont buy it, we need to finish hit the net with the shots and crash the net as posted before,get dirty. would nice to HAVE a hot goalie as well.

couldnt agree more we are watching a lot,on both defense and offense,when we had the good run this yr we had 2 guys in on the forecheck,and made the other team cough the puck up, and we looked fassssster as well...will be an interesting weekend coming up, I was very wrong as far as the line-up was concerned this weekend,so will not even guess who will be where up north.These guys will be in for a rude awakening at the Ronald B if they play the way they did this weekend,let alone Maxy Hall....2 men hard crash the net cover in the dzone, and error on the side of being aggressive....and ya never know???

+1 I think they have a 50/50 chance of sweeping next weekend - or getting swept...

It's a coin flip for sure. Potsdam is playing well and fighting for a playoff spot while Plattsburgh is Plattsburgh.

Last I heard, Hulshof is hurt and all healthy defensemen were dressed this weekend. I believe that had a lot to do with the tough time getting into the quick transition, and the minor defensive mistakes that grew into problems this weekend?

I don't think it had much to do with it. The best defensive pair Oswego had on Saturday was Hart and Orser. Rivait has been the only consistent defenseman for the Lakers this year. The biggest hit against the quick transition was the pucks harmlessly bouncing off sticks on good crisp passes. These guys just aren't playing loose out there and that is the kind of thing that happens when you play tight.

Is Oswego 15-6-2 or 6-15-2?

Beat Potsdam, win their play-in game and they have 17 wins. That is a decent year, and the future looks very bright. We saw glimpses of it, as well as glimpses of a team trying to find its way to consistency

I don't know what your problem is with people critiquing what goes on with this team. None of us are saying they are a joke, they are simply not that good right now. We have all praised them when they have played well and I feel that gives us the green light to criticize them when they don't.

17 wins would be a decent season for sure but I really don't see the harm in pointing out ways they can get better. We are here to have an honest discussion about the team that is on the ice in 2013-2014, if you don't want to do that come back in 2015-2016 and we can discuss our plans for Lake Placid then.

Gents, plain and simple there wouldn't be a discussion if they went 2-0 over the weekend. Even 1-1 for that matter. They are not beating the teams they should be beating in the most critical time of the year. Good banter, carry on.
Oh, I am looking to go 2-0 this weekend......

I dont think that the critiquing has been to bad,just good fans who are expressing what they think/watched,I dont see to many players if any getting totally bashed so that is pretty important.Perhaps if the team didnt have a good run earlier in the season and show what they could be, we wouldn't be as dissapointed at the past few games.

Not to bash on Oswego here, but other then their home tie against a depleted defense Plattsburgh team (a game of which records can normally be tossed out), Utica is their only "good" win on the season, and how good is that? Loses to Fredonia, Brockport, Buff State. Wins over Nazareth, Salve Regina, Curry, Conn College. They lose one more game and they will be tied for the most SUNYAC loses since the 1999-2000 season when the Lakers were 6-6-2. Oswego has locked up a home ice quarterfinal game, Plattsburgh is fighting for 1st place, home ice, Pool C bid, and a home NCAA game. Besides that, that tie has not left a good taste in the players mouth. With Hermans and Jensen IN this game, I don't think Oswego gets Chewy off his game 2 games in a row. Senior night against Chewy...good luck.

So Hulshof, King, and Scott were all hurt for Saturdays game, well atlease a confirmed Hulshof.
Remy as for as getting Chewy off his game, it doesn't matter who he plays he only has one off game per year that that one has already happened and it wasn't against the Lakers. For the Lakers to win on Saturday 2 things has to happen. The whole Cards team needs to tank and the Lakers needs to cure what ever their problems are for the Potsdam game to carry it over to Saturday. But Saturday will be a good game and just maybe a upset will happen.

A win like this against Platty would heal a lot of the wounds of this season. Certainly an underdog, but boy would it feel good!

Yeah, what is it with this team?? If I didn't know better I'd say they were playing like a bunch of 20-year olds most of whom have only been playing together for like five months.

Scott was hurt in the second Morrisville game although I do not know the nature of the injury. Hulshoff was injured against Genny and only played in the first period and maybe some in the second. I don't about Wills or King save for the fact that Denton was not a healthy scratch. I also don't know why Smith didn't and he may have been injured also.

Remy is right though, Oswego played well against Platty and Utica but really their record is a product of their schedule. It's really not a knock against them, it's the reality of the situation. This group just doesn't have the experienced leaders that the previous two large freshman classes had. If someone, Rivait or Gertsakis, can step up and become a leader like John Hirliman, Ryan woodward, Tyler Lyon or Jon Whitelaw then next season could be special. Right now Titanic is a good player and a great kid but he just doesn't seem to be that take the team on my back and carry them over the line type guy that the others I mentioned were.
