Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Right now Titanic is a good player and a great kid but he just doesn't seem to be that take the team on my back and carry them over the line type guy that the others I mentioned were.
I would have to disagree with you about Titanic. The second half he seems to be playing his best hockey as he did last year at this time. As mentioned by you there just aren't enough upper classmen. I thought I would be seeing more of P.Rod and Carr but I haven't. Has the injury bug hit them too. Both are really solid players and P Rod is physical. Just an odd year but a good year which brought grey hairs to this fan.

I said titanic is playing good hockey and he is a good Captain. I just feel isn't the type of leader they need, a guy that can really just break open a game and take it over if need be. On a team with a little more experience he would be leading them to Maine by scoring the timely, winning goal. Again, not a knock on David, it's just the way it is, unfortunately guys like what they need don't come around often.

I agree. Like the 2009-2010 team with 13 Freshman. Your returning first line was Selleck, Fox, and Laganiere, which allowed the third line to be Whitelaw, Moody and Rodrigues  Something like that probably would have helped a little this year. That team was ridiculous!

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

IMHO the reason most (all?) of us are a bit frustrated today is the Lakers team play in the first half of the season allowed (enabled?) us to be optimistic about the second half of the season...while I don't think that can just kick-in again - this coming weekend or the post season - its ok to dream about it...and I would gladly welcome it... As far as Titanic is concerned, he has been a great captain on and off the ice for these youngsters...and he has provided great goals at great times over the course of 4 yrs...but he's not Whitelaw and it is a bit unfair to expect that of him....IMHO

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

97osu, Neil Musselwhite was the real catalyst of that group as he really broke a few games open, but again you can't expect to have guys like that to come along very often.

And Eagle, you are correct on Titanic, guys like Whitelaw, and Woodward are the exception rather than the rule.

Musselwhite's speed and goals on the penalty kill were back breakers for sure. Adams has that type of speed, just need to find the goals

Adams and Waterstreet are my favorite players on this team and they remind me of Musselwhite and Dormeidy, if they can provide that type of offense for this team at some point in the future that would be great. Of course the last few games they didn't play together all the time.

Oswego '88
Titanic has played very well this yr, and I am not talking about goals, if you watch him he hustles and finishes all checks and leads by example, not a whitelaw for sure by as stated b4 those type of guys are an exception..As for Carr??? Doesnt seem to have that extra step, hes good with the puck but hasnt produced and at this level you need to or your in a suit.We have several guys who need to produce, hustle and scoringwise, they know who they are...really like Watersteets game, except maybe a few bad penalties, but ill take them,Adams very good speed, and lets hope his hands catch up with his feet,i,e, Donny Rae from back in the day....As for the trip to the north country, not expecting to much.

Hate to see this season ending with Waterstreet's play the past couple games. He seems to be gaining more confidence and starting to go strong to the net and leaning that big body into the d-man, awful tough to stop.

LOL on Donny Rae. Spent many an evening at Donnie and Wacks place when home for summer break...of course on our way to pull tabs at the Shed

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

My goodness I can't believe Donnie has been mentioned 3 times now. How many time has he come up before now?? It would be great to have Adams develop into a player as Donnie did. He does have Donnie's speed. Adams has a bit to go to get to Donnie's strength. It would be nice if they still had the tabs at the Shed.

+1. The real frustrating things is the apparent regression of this team. If this team had started the season like they're playing now...and ended the season they way they were playing in November...everyone here would be VERY happy. But that hasn't happened. They started rough, which everyone expected. Then they gelled and started to play like a really talented TEAM. Then something happened and they're right back where they were in October. There is no doubt that this team has a heck of a lot of talent. And I think a lot of this could just be growing pains. I'm still very excited to see what this team will do over the next few years.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Last I checked we have two games left to play (including Platty!) and then the SUNYACS; an open, anyone -can -win tourney. Lets see how they finish before wishing it was 2014-15.

EXACTLY....Go Lakers!

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

I think there are 3 teams that can win the SUNYAC tournament. There are also a couple of teams (Fredonia, Buffalo) capable of playing spoiler. I wouldn't give up just yet Laker fans, I remember the Cardinals having an awful conference record one year and winning the tourney.

Me too!! They had to beat Morrisville on the road to advance in a play-in game!!

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

just a side note, Bonner had 64 goals in his last 2 seasons in the OJHL in 96games not to shabby..I think on that line with the BIG guy and Adams he would be putting a few more in, doesnt seem to get to many chances??

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Bonner plays a lot along the boards which is why he doesn't get a lot of chances. He is an excellent penalty killer and he is very responsible in covering the point when a d-man pinches in. If he would start going to the net in the offensive zone and chip in some points he would be a really good player.
