Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Whomever makes the trip (if anyone) it will likely be for a quarterfinal game and the team that doesn't would probably have a play in game. I for one would much rather have Oswego in a quarterfinal than in the play-in round if it comes to that.

They know the way by heart...
If that happens WTOP's opening montage has to be the Bugs Bunny Theme Song music (with lyrics).

Oh, can you guys produce the Lewiston games? Tell Turner Sports the games are in Lake Placid.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

The WTOP crew deserves a shout out today - Matt Bishop, Joe Wilcox, Eric "Pup" Ortiz were the crew - the ENTIRE crew at The Ira creating the broadcast called by Joe Noel and Larry Bergin...5 guys total, one camera operated by "Pup", the other two locked down for closeups around each net...Matt was the Producer/Director/Technical Director and Joe was the Engineer/Audio/Graphics/Replays...all full-time students.

Back in Oswego in the Al Roker Studio were Maeghan Roberts, Mitch Lamb, Brian Chojnaki, Omy Melo, Matt Stone, Justin Dobrow, Anthony Varrone and Brian Ruderman...all full-time students. Lip sync issues for sure, but these kids worked hard on stats and analysis to support the Fabulous Five and give them a breather.

WTOP proved they could show up, set up and deliver a quality broadcast with honor and distinction.

First Road Game. First HD Broadcast. History was made...legends were born...champions were crowned.:D:D:D

By the end of the night, they were all Laker fans ;)

300 tickets were sold at the Oswego box office, and a handful drove to Geneseo during the week for tickets. About 350?

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team will host Bowdoin College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Campus Center Ice Arena for the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship, as announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday night. Oswego earned the bid to the NCAA Championship after winning its third SUNYAC crown in the last five years with a 7-6 victory over Geneseo in the championship game on Saturday night. It was the second-straight year the Lakers captured the title.

Tickets will go on-sale on Monday to season-ticket holders, Oswego students and opponents' fans. The box office opens at 10 a.m. on Monday and tickets are also available at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling (315) 312-3073. On Tuesday, tickets will be made available to the general public. For any questions, please contact the box office at the aforementioned phone number.

This will mark Oswego's 15th trip to NCAAs in the program's history, including its fifth-straight appearance. The Lakers have also made a showing in the Frozen Four each of the last four seasons, including runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2013. Oswego captured the college's only National Championship in 2007 with a triumph over Middlebury.

With Saturday night's win in the SUNYAC Championship game, the Lakers reached the 20-win plateau for the fifth-straight year. Currently Oswego sits at 20-6-2 during the 2013-14 campaign.

On offense, the Lakers are paced by freshmen Matt Galati and Alex Botten, the team's two 30+-point getters. Galati leads the team in both points (34) and goals (31), with two goals and an assist in the SUNYAC Championship game. His classmate Botten shows more of a helping characteristic, leading the team with 23 assists, including the distribution of five in the title contest.

Oswego finds its leadership from the team's three captains, David Titanic, Nick Rivait and Bobby Gertsakis. Gertsakis and Rivait anchor a stifling defense while the senior, Titanic, is the calm presence on offense. The trio has combined for 58 points on the year.

In goal, Matt Zawadzki has posted a 13-2-2 record in his freshman year with a .918 save percentage and a 2.25 goals against average.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Oswego certainly got the toughest road to the Final Four in the east having to play a very quick and well coached Bowdoin team before a potential trip to a stout defensive and equally well coached Babson. The mettle of this young group will be fully tested here and if they make a fifth straight final four that would be one heck of an accomplishment. As hot as they have been lately I consider them the underdog in every round going forward and any wins from here on out are just icing on a fine season.
