Switched to Evan/Coke. * hockey.
I'm about to switch to white russians.

edit: this should be a night that I end up at a decent bar, but I won't be getting myself there at this point

I'm just gonna tell Chez Rube's bartender to make that TWO fifths of whiskey.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Well lets see, I had 5 different KBC beers tonight. Started with a broomball lager, then an Urban IPA, a 36 shilling scottish ale, a red jacket amber ale, and to top it off a stump grinder stout.

Then watched zombieland with a moulson, and then a leinie's sunset wheat.

All I have to say is I love the KBC!

What's the Broomball Lager like?

You chick.

Hey, it's better than Blue Moon.

In other news, Summit Oatmeal Stout is still amazing, and still needs to be more widely available.

I went over to somebody's house after the KBC and that was what I got.

It was delicious. Very light and smooth. It was a bit cloudy too. I would give it a 9/10.

Yes, sunset wheat is much better than blue moon.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Both Blue Moon and Sunset Wheat suck. Argument over.

Don't fruit the beer.

How were the IPA and the stout?

The IPA was drinkable. It was a little too hoppy for my tastes, but I still liked it.

The stout was delicious. Very smooth going down and a nice warm hearty flavor. I think maybe a slight hint of a coffee flavor too.

I ask mainly because, in my two years of regularly visiting the KBC, I tried all their attempts at an IPA and never liked any of them. I usually drank the amber, the schilling, or whatever stout was in rotation.

Blizzard Brown was good, they made a pretty solid malt liquor (way more drinkable than anything from a 40 oz. bottle), and they once made a nice batch of what they called "Punch Face Pilsener", but I only got to have one growler of it and I never saw it again.

Failing in my quest to find Arrogant Bastard in Cheyenne, I settled for some Alaskan Winter Ale, made by the kind folks who brought you Alaskan Amber.

Whoa, skunky, and a weird aftertaste. Can't say I'm impressed. Fortunately I picked up some 1554 to wash it down :D

Yeah, I am not a good judge of IPA's as I haven't drank very many of them, so you will have to find some to try for yourself to judge properly.

I have a large unfortunately empty bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale sitting here on my desk. My best friend got it for me when he went to Vegas for his 21st. It was pretty good if I remember correctly.

Arrogant Bastard is my favorite beer to drink when watching Wolverine football. :) ;)

And yeah, it's pretty good, but not the best thing Stone brews either.

I need to try this sometime.

And I'm one of those who drinks to the occasion. MN-WI series? Always a MN beer, etc.

Back to whiskey. I almost am like the prof in "Rounders": "Gin....always gin....." :D
