Saugatuck Brewing Co. Neapolitan Milk Stout

Sounded sweet and possibly fruity, but was surprisingly good. Semi-dry and just a hint of the strawberry needed for the "neapolitan" description.

I'm enjoying a 3 Philosophers right now. Planning on going to the local bar in about an hour to watch the Gophers, then probably staying for some Johnny Holm. Oh boy.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Brent, I think you've been pimping the Appleton Estate 12-Year rum? Ya mon, good sipper.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Picked up Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout, SN Hoptimum, Surly Abrasive Ale and NB Trippel

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Had a bottle (11.2 oz) of Harviestoun Ola Dubh (translated to "black oil"). It's a Scotland ale that was aged in Orkney's Highland Park 16YO scotch casks. Very tasty.

Now, thanks to MN winning, I will have a touch of Bowmoore 12YO, which is a phenomenal scotch.

You found Bowmore around here? Nice find! I grabbed a bottle of Lagavulin 16 last weekend.

Yeah, Big Top at Ridgedale had the 12 and 15 on the shelf. Didn't check the glass cases, though. The 12 was $45.

And one of my friends and I saw that about the Lag. We both whispered "oooooooooooo" when we saw that.

They had the cheap Auchentoshan at the place I found Lagavulin, but none of the good stuff. The Lagavulin was about $70 for a bottle.

That might be in store for the divadork wedding. That, and a nice cigar.

There was a Bunnahabhain 18 year old in the glass case that might be good for that. It's a Islay that is supposed to have a lighter flavor. I don't know about spending that much without trying it first though.

Yeah, I hear ya there. That pub out in the Springs had a ton of different Irish whiskeys, some as old as 21YO, which I tried.

Trying some Finnegan's Blonde Ale. Nothing spectacular, but a very nice, easy-drinking summertime ale which fits the weather but is bizarre as hell to say considering it's March 17th.

For those of you not afraid of hops, Surly's Abrasive Ale and Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum are amazing.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Just got back from a Texas road trip, where I had a new beer from the folks at Shiner: an IPA. Pretty tasty! (The restaurant where we had it was a fine Texas bbq place, so my brain was in a happinesss coma from the brisket, ribs, and sausage, so I guess I can't guarantee the beer quality. :D)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

KBW Widowmaker. Good, not worth driving all over town to find. Plenty of brews as good or better with far better availability.

Next time, try the KBC instead. Much better. ;)
Also, if the Scotch Ale is available, try that one as well.
