Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Because the only relevant sports at BU are niche sports and they can't fit every school in the city on the header? If you include BU, you should have Harvard and Northeastern.

Harvard is in cambridge and really is not known for their sports. Northeastern is in Boston but also not know too well for their sports. BC is not in Boston but has it in the name and has relatively successful and big sports (football, basketball, hockey). BU is in Boston and has one really big sport which is hockey. BU should still be there but I understand that there probably isn't a lot to write about when it comes to sports at BU. At least, not something casual people will care about.

That header looks like it could fit a couple more but I would be happier with no college schools instead of adding more.

Sadly the numbers of tickets on StubHub are increasing by the minute

1) Thank you for the Matt Gilroy goal link. That was a beaut.  I know I can't/shouldn't base this on one highlight, but he's going to be one of six d-men for the Blue Shirts.
2) Is Chris Drury healthy?
3) Kennedy is right. BC is the only college sports school that deserves a page.
4) Gammons was talking about how excited he is for the BU-BC game on WEEI this afternoon. He said the BU-BC rivalry is every bit as big/good as Duke-NC.
5) I'm still disappointed with the banner bungle, but moving on...

I agree with this, but why put it there and then take it away. All I expected was a stagnant page that never changed anyway, is that too much to ask?

Yeah, I'm really excited about the nationally televised game tomorrow night, too. We should roll. I don't think I've ever seen BU beat BC in men's soccer but there have been some close ones, including our goalie bicycle-kicking the would-be tying goal off their crossbar with only a couple seconds left in the game at BC maybe five years ago.

As for our logo on the webpage, come on - we won a national championship on their television channel. Of course, it was easily one of the greatest, if not the greatest, game in any sport this year but they couldn't put a highlight on their ESPY reel, even though it's all their footage...

welll..... FOH form for 09-10 finally showed up.

name was completely wrong on the form (though the name in the address right above it was right). then i look at the levels, and see a little page insert that has the BU Writer book available at a level -- which is wrong according to the folded handout.

tsk tsk tsk

The Patriots and Revolution play in Foxboro and neither have Boston in their name so I guess you want them taken off the Boston page, too?

It wouldn't be a hockey season if we didn't see or hear "BC isn't in Boston" from a fanboy a few times. Thanks for the laugh.

Very few people care about Hockey... and even fewer care about college hockey. Unfortunate, but that's just the way it is.

1) Definitely- he was the best Ranger on the ice.

2) Yeah, but it's preseason, so they only dress a certain number of vets.

Back to BU hockey...

Anyone know when they will send the season tickets out?

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Met a couple of the players at Fenway on Wednesday while I was in town on business. They were there to hype the upcoming Fenway game before the first pitch. Was up on the Monster during the game and they came walking by. Stopped them to say thanks and let them know how much it meant to my kids and I to be in DC for the title game. They were polite, appreciative of the feedback and when I told them what year I graduated one of them said "wow" ... like it was 1,000 years ago.:D :p

Bonino, and Shattenkirk I believe. Guy next to me was a UNH grad, big fan of the Wildcats although his daughter goes to Northeastern. He was a big hockey fan, told a great story about going out to North Dakota to see the Cats play the team formerly known as.

Caught a Vlad homerun during batting practice...not a bad night.

Since the Gilroy stuff was here - Colin Wilson made his Nashville pre-season debut - 1G 2A for a team leading three points; also tied with one other player on +/- with a +3.

Now I have to go update my earlier blog piece on the Nashville babies.

Thanks for the update! Would be awesome if Wilson proved that he's ready. He sure is physically, and putting up points is a great sign that the speed isn't fazing him.

Ugh. And the Preds home page has a picture of #45 saying "Clay Wilson's three points lead the way in preseason opener."

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

#45 is Ben Eaves (linemate for atleast part of the game); waiting to see stories as Eaves' shift number makes me worried that he was injured. They've fixed the Clay now (I saw it earlier as well); gallery didn't have any shots of Wilson - but had multiple of Ben despite minute shortage. Strange; I would have thought the Getty shooter would have had Wilson on his list to shoot.

Was just about to post re: Colin tonight. Glad to see him making a great impression so far.

Wilson video - http://predators.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=737&id=46682

(if you let it keep playing it will go to postgame interviews and he comes after Arnott - and if you go to the Trotz piece - he talks about him around the 1:15 mark - says Wilson's game hasn't changed between the different levels from college, to baby camp to this - plays same way (I'm not phrasing well & don't feel like going back - it was a compliment from the coach)
