I'm still super annoyed... found out my wife cannot yet find anyone to swap shifts with that weekend. So at a bare minimum she will be missing this. So great of them to announce it on Aug 21st and then change it a month later.

I tell ya... a Bruins 10 game plan is looking like a nice alternative right now.

Already hurting my Devils. Matt Gilroy just scored in the preseason Devils Rangers game. Good for him. Hopefully the first of many (though hopefully not too many against the Devils)

With the Rangers trailing 2-0 early in the third period, Gilroy scored a gorgeous goal to pull New York within one. Aaron Voros tipped a Sean Avery pass ahead to Gilroy, who jumped up into the rush, danced around Devils’ defenseman Mark Fraser, skated in tight on New Jersey goalie Yann Danis, and then backhanded a shot high into the net for his first goal of the preseason.

So impressive was the move and goal that every player on the Rangers bench jumped up, with several shaking their heads in disbelief.

The goal capped a second straight strong outing by the 25-year-old Gilroy, who was one of seven players in the Rangers lineup that also played in Tuesday night’s preseason opener against the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden.

he got their only SO goal in 6 tries. also, at the end of OT they were on the pk 3x4. he was out for a dzone faceoff taken by brian boyle (lw circle). boyle won it back to matty. matt passed to himself off the boards and raced past everyone off the circle. the devils d at the line turned and sprinted back to get in matt's way as matt skated up the ice and got a shot off that deflected out of play.

great burst of speed.

i hit the tivo button so the boys can watch in the morning. (i have two defensemen now because of matt :rolleyes: )

In response to everything above...

I was at the Rangers/Devils game tonight, and it was the Matt Gilroy show. It was amazing. It was also amazing to hear the couple of other Ranger fans around me go from "hey, that new guy isn't bad." to "Holy ****, Gilroy!" ;-)

Somewhat of a sidetrack, some of you may know I grew up in CT and still closely follow UConn football...this week they're playing Baylor so the references to "BU football" have been numerous this week on the UConn board. Thus I hunted down a link to show my sarcastic confusion as to who UConn was playing this week and found this interesting piece some might be interested in:

Because the only relevant sports at BU are niche sports and they can't fit every school in the city on the header? If you include BU, you should have Harvard and Northeastern.

so, in the pre-sale earlier this month I was stymied by the virtual waiting room, and today I got through but I was only able to purchase one standing room ticket. Tried for two standing room - denied, but I got one. The Fenway ticketing system has always been terrible so I think this is a glitch in the system. I mean, what are the odds of there being exactly one standing room ticket left? And when I tried to buy a second one after completing the purchase I was sent back to the virtual waiting room.

Fenway uses its own system so it can collect the same ticket fees that Ticketmaster otherwise would pocket. But they have done a terrible job of building it and it is full of bugs, in my opinion. Only the Red Sox and Fenway could make Ticketmaster look good in comparison.

btw, my $5 ticket cost $12.50. still cheap but that's a 150% markup.
