Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed!

Re: Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed

That's a very fair point. My assumption has always been that the talks were approached from their inception as a packaged deal for all the remaing CCHA teams and the negotiations proceeded from that starting point. So to that end it was self-perservation, with the added effect of being positive for college hockey. But if you perceive the WCHA as having all the leverage here (who are we kidding) than they very easily could have made the choice to cherry pick and you would guess LSSU and UA_ would have adondoned notions of CCHA camaraderie in a heartbeat leaving Ferris/BG to convince the AH4 to join another potentially unstable conference. If that had happened it would go to my point of doing what is best for your program.

If Notre Dame decides to do their own thing, it has to be in the best interest of Miami for BG to become team #8. As is, I'm not sure they exactly meet the NCHC's criteria of a "commitment to hockey excellence" but since that is really just bs jargon for do you have money and are you willing to spend it on hockey, you could see them fitting in. Short trip for us and potential in-state rivalry if they reemerge as a contender seem like good reasons for Miami to endorse their membership. But let's hope it's ND or ND & <--M--. As far as TV and brand recongnition go, tNational is going to be hard pressed without the Irish. That being said, I just want to see some great hockey and that's why we have B2 and All-Access!

37 Days - Love & Honor :D

Agree to all that too.

I would have liked the 2 in 22 in there as well, but fun to watch that video.

I've been to a few of the sessions at the Goggin this week. Fun to see those alums here for the whole week. They seemed to be having fun. It's particularly fun to watch guys like Martinez, Greene, Miele, Camper, Palmer do drills. Wednesday they had four on four on half ice on the B pad with boards down. Tough on the goaltenders. Yesterday full ice with the pros smoking two different groups of the RedHawks badly. Greene, Zatkoff and a couple of others were gone today. I got to watch the first 25 minute half today and it was much more even. Biggs was good today, but it's hard to tell with no real checking involved. Miele and Martinez and Palmer were almost always fun to watch although there was a little more coasting today - lots of three on ones, which was fun. I think overall this thing was a great success for all involved. Hope they can keep it going next year.

Naturally the Biggs to Ryan Jones comparisions are already popping up, ridiculous considering he hasn't even played a game for us yet, but just for fun, care to weight in? :)

Ridiculous. That hair of Tyler's isn't even in the same ball park.

RHM used that for the season thread a few years ago. I think we can be more creative! I, however, have no witty suggestions to offer at the moment.

Does that mean "Oh Where oh Where Could RHM Be?" is officially shot down? ****. ;)

A very very rough mid-summer video. Just some of my favorite random highlights from the last couple seasons and pictures I pulled out of the many I've accumulated from Miami hockey games.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6QtCz9JKRQ

I've had this sitting on my desktop for over a month - since I upgraded to Lion, FCPX barley runs so I've given up on actually putting finishing touches on it, hence the lack of logical sequence, audio syncing, or general production value, but it's still Miami hockey, just disregard the ending! :)

And apparently youtube really does not like the sound of our players singing.

No, but since I know where he is, it's not as much fun. :)

Haha, guess that's fair enough. I've surmised why he isn't on here, but oddly enough I kind of miss being berated every once and ahwile, just isn't the same around here these days.

Huge pull with Riley Barber!! I'll stick to worrying about the possiblities of a CHL defection later, this staff just keeps pulling them in, hope to see him in the red and white next fall.

Who says re-watching old TV shows is counter-productive? Believe I've found a suitable replacement for the Scalp Song, just throw this up on the scoreboard

Forwards are stacked for the coming years but I'm concerned about our lack of top-end D depth.
