Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed!

Re: Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed

Hobey Miele with the hatty last night, and Polanski's Apostle has been named the early favorite to take it all home. Apparently they also have the first ever female coach in the 1 year history of this tournament. OxVegas meet Vegas Vegas.

I was always a fan of Trinidad's jersey's from that movie... maybe that should have been my entry for the design-Miami's-jersey contest.

well, as long as it's deek, and not deke, then the opposition doesn't have much to worry about ;)

Does anyone around Oxford know if the school's copy of Andy's Hobey is on display yet?

Re: Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed

I realize this is blasphemy, but bear with me....

I may be more excited about Miami football than Miami hockey. This isn't to say I'm not stoked about hockey, because I am. But it has been so long since I have anticipated a new football season, I am just pumped. I think we finally have a staff that can bring us back to the Hepp levels. I think Coach Treadwell is gonna awesome for this program.

Hang him!!!

Should be a fun fall, this is the first time I've been excited for a football season, so I understand the sentiment. It will be interesting to see how much everyone's excitment is tempered after Mizzou puts it on us again (I just don't see us even being in that game with their defensive line), but the MAC is there for the taking. That being said, I am chomping at the bit to get in my car October 7th and head to Oxford for my first game as an alumnus. My Miami football experiences as a student were so underwhealming that I don't have the emotional connection for it to trump hockey, 2007-2009 were pretty miserable, and the start of last year didn't do much to make me rethink sitting in line at the Goggin on a Saturday afternoon over going down to Yager.

Two Ohio kids on the final world junior evaluation camp roster but neither of them is Tyler Biggs. Maybe next year. (Murphy and Miller advanced.) Lots of OHL players, or soon to be OHL players, on the roster. I wonder what is the most ever CHL players on the American team? Sign of the times, I guess.

With regard to football, I worry that somehow things will even up this year. Last year the planets and stars aligned in a very improbable way with MU winning every winnable game usually by the slimest of margins with all the breaks going our way. I'm cautiously optimistic, but you also have the "new system" factor that may cause some problems. But the practices are very business-like and professional, so that is good to see. The big problem is at running back with the only returning guy with any reps leaving. We'll see.

Our running game could be even more of a disaster than it was last year. Despite being almost dead last in rushing in the NCAA, Meriweather still played a HUGE part in most of our late season wins, he really hit his stide at the right time. The depth at RB doesn't give you alot of confidence that Dysert will be cutting down on his INTs anytime soon. And you know that fans will waste no time calling for Boucher if Dysert stumbles out of the gate once we hit the MAC schedule, and then it is Kokal/Raudabaugh all over again, let the circus begin.

But I have faith in Treadwell :)

I'm also very excited for the football season. I'm not really expecting the same success we had last year because, as redeagle pointed out, a number of those wins could have easily been losses had the wind been blowing in the other direction. Win or lose, however, I believe these games will be far more exciting than most of the football I saw as an undergrad (2005-2008 seasons). I'll be happy with a solid winning season.

Best of all, though, is it gives me something to watch until October finally rolls around!

This just in, fresh off the twitter feed. PNC to sponsor Rico bobbleheads this season. Will they dare put a smile on Rico's face? Will said bobblehead appear to have shaven anytime in the past week? Only time will tell.

LOL. With Rico, it's whether he has shaved in the last 12 hours, but I am hoping for the needs a shave look.

I've decided to erect a centerpiece around mine for the kitchen table. The base will consist of wrough iron statues depicting Justin VAIVE and the bald zamboni driver from the Goggin. The Enrico Blasi bobblehead will be placed atop the sholders of these 2 pillars of The Brotherhood. Possibly going to install a couple spot lights above to really make the whole thing pop. Going to be boss.

Dont forget The Chief!

And connor murph is done for most the 2011-2012 season already. Banged up his knee. Wonder if he wishes he could come back to ox now?
