Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I'm pretty sure Saksa made at least one save when he came in against Northern last year in the 9-1 game.

Edit: Upon further research, it would appear I'm wrong. I rem
ember him covering the puck to stop play, but apparently wasn't a shot.

I believe they counted it as a shot on the board at Goggin, but not in the official boxscore

I don't think its a coincidence that our power play is hovering around 50th with the chief song gone.

Checking on the phone, but it looks like we finally broke through. Are those jerseys as ugly on the ice as they are in the picture?

THe Swoops Stoop image looked like an iron-on but all in all they weren't completely horrible. Plus it was for a good cause, so what can you do?

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

uah is probably the hardest working team we've seen all year. Not up to skill level with most teams we played, but they skate their asses off all night and try to hit anyone in sight. Glad we got to host them before these important last two conference weekends

Thanks, through it all this season they never gave up. Hopefully, now that I can go back rooting for Miami again, this helps them right the ship for end of season push.

A pair of very intense games next weekend for you guys with both you and ND needing the 6 points badly to try and get past that bottleneck in the conference standings. With the bye week for OSU we'll be in desperate need of the 6 when we play you the weekend after!

When looking at these next two series at the beginning of the year I don't think anyone expected Notre Dame would be on a 4-7 streak since the new year and ohio state at 1-7-4. Either way both weekends will be huge for ccha and pwr

I don't understand how the logo on the front was made from bike reflector materials

This. They wouldn't have been quite as ugly if the logo wasn't so obviously a different shade of white than the rest of the jersey.

Well...maybe if Connor/Cody were to wear those sweaters this weekend the reflective properties will alert Sheahan that he needs to STOP before entering the crease ;)

Or it could attract him even more...like all pests drawn to the pest zappers...

Fair point, in that case I guess the guys will just have to goon it up and retaliate. Since Johnson and Summerhays are tall enough to ride Top Thrill Dragster I don't foresee similar outrage as we've had in recent weeks

Edit: I almost forgot...for ND posters reading this thread. I'm not being serious. This is sarcasm. I seem to recall we had some issues with that last year <3

I figured we've had out quota of flaming after Michigan week this year.

Yea I'm still burned out from that.

Anyway, looking forward to this series. A good weekend would make me feel better come tournament time. Alaska's in-and-out PWR status has us +/- about 3 spots seemingly every weekend, so obviously we should just tack on some wins against ND and tOSU for some insurance. I'm glad the UAH games didn't end up being some sort of trap series (first 30 minutes of Saturday's game aside), otherwise I would be a bit more nervous.

We get to watch providence swing on and off the tuc line as well, but given their remaining games it is a pretty safe bet they are going to finish the season below .500

Thought everyone would find this interesting...

http://playoffstatus.com/ncaahockey/ncaahockeytournpartprob.html

Miami's current probability at making the NCAA tournament at 67%.

Gives us a 7% probability of winning CCHA tournament.

Lots of other fun scenarios to look at as well.

7% seems a little low for winning the Mason Cup. At this point all I am concerned about is making the tournament and keeping our appearance streak alive.

A few random notes:

-My handsome face got its first (that I know of) close up on the All-Access highlights from the UAH games. Awww yea...

-That dude in my beginners ice skating class who was a bit too good has now been confirmed for Blake Coleman. Next class I think I might lay a hit on 'em.

Wait a minute...where are the Indian references?!?! ;)

I'd like to think we will see Connor in net for 2 games this weekend, but Rico's new goalie system completely befuddles me. I keep figuring Cody will snap out of whatever snaffu he's in, but we are running out of games here!
