Official 2009-2010 Minnesota State Maverick Hockey Thread: Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

Re: Official 2009-2010 Minnesota State Maverick Hockey Thread: Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

If only it were that easy... We are a victim of circumstance now, and we'll be suffering for 3.5 more years.

Well at least we can keep going to the Final Five and not have to worry about how our team is going to do in it

I guess the book is out on Lee. He had some nice saves and played a pretty good game but high to the glove was money for UMD this weekend.
Don Adam sure didn't want to leave Mankato this weekend, I thinik thats the longest 63 minute and 43 second game I've ever been to.

Has anyone else been having trouble finding Shane's blog lately. I found the live blog but can't seem to find the reg. write-ups?

Probably not passing along anything others haven't found on their own elsewhere, but for the heck of it (and this thread needs a bump, I suppose):

Update on Maverick recruits from Shane.

Pitlick a first rounder?!?! TSN's McKenzie via a link from Chris.

oh boy, this team needs a kick in the a**. A spark, something, anything...

Re: Official 2009-2010 Minnesota State Maverick Hockey Thread: Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

Seems like we are playing for a high draft choice. Oh yea, thats professional where you get the 1st choice for finishing last.

We have what will be a high draft choice. Lets hope Pitlick stays a couple of more years.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Minnesota State Maverick Hockey Thread: Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

Things are really bottoming out, and this is what we can expect for the foreseeable future.

QFT :( We may still be able to beat Bemidji in the new WCHA, but the joy might stop there (as we watch them handle themselves quite well with the rest of the leauge). Given the entire picture of the WCHA, IMHO, we end up right around 10th place most years. Something/someone could always come out of nowhere to surprise on occasion, but based on the current situation, I don't think we can hope for much more than that year-to-year.

If I was Mr. Pitlick, would I really want to stay around for another year of College Hockey after potentially going #20 in the NHL entry draft? I suppose it depends. Obviously, I'm not him so I can't ever say. And there are a lot of other factors, not the leasat of which is what his family and the direction the drafting organization would like him to take.

Assuming I was in his possition and had the choice, I'd really have to look hard at the talent coming into the program to make this team better. That includes not only next year's freshman class, but also how improved this year's fellow freshmen and sophomores might be with one more year of experience. Most importantly, I need to know what next year's student leadership will provide. Based on the past, I cannot believe there is ANYTHING [hockeywise] my coach will be able to provide; unless, my roll in the NHL will be "team goon."

Ugh.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Minnesota State Maverick Hockey Thread: Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

Anyone else feel that it is time for a lot of changes?

No more head games with the players would be a great start. Boe and Elbrecht not healthy enough to travel, then low and behold they are on the trip and playing. Was this really the best decision for the team?

If you look at all the healthy scratches game in and and game out, why are they healthy scratches? Let the kids that are injured, get healthy and give the rest of the "healthy scratches" a chance. Time to start re-evaluating the decision making on ice-time and start using the talent that is available and waiting for a real opportunity.

I haven't posted this season yet because I usually just ***** about Jutting. Thanks to everyone for doing it for me.

$18 for a shirt is a little steep, but I think this may be worth it.

Assuming the weather cooperates, I plan to make the trek over to Sioux Falls, SD. tomorrow to watch the Fargo Force take on the Sioux Falls Stampede. It should be a pretty good match-up and it will be fun to watch future Mavericks' Matt Leitner, Corey Leivermann and Chase Grant.

I've watched Leivermann play a couple times but this will be my first time watching the other two.
