Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

I woke up from my NyQuil-induced coma to find that Miami lost. Obviously, I didn't hear the game. So, instead of going through the things that went wrong, I say that we just commend RMU on a great game. Like MD said, we've seen it before.

I, for one, will cop to not thinking that it would; but I don't think it's a big deal. I look for Miami to come out very strong on Sunday.

lets hope we can rebound early and come out big sunday. we had such a monstrous PWR and KRACH lead that losing to a 3 win team and we are still #1.

apparently the team had quite the adventure getting to pittsburgh, a near 12 hour bus ride, so lets hope that we can attribute the loss to bus legs and sticks gripped too tight, lots of missed open nets. and miele rang one off the irons.

This hopefully will be a 1-game "swoon"... let's wait until Sunday to start worrying about it. Regardless, this brings us 13-3-5 overall. Unless I'm mistaken, Yale (8-3-3) is the ONLY other team in D-I hockey that has 3 or fewer losses on the season, and obviously we've played a few more games than they have. I'll take it.

Now let's get to Sunday and keep that loss column at 3.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Well that should end all fears of a prolonged Rico Swoon! Oh wait...

Did not get to see the game so I'm curious to hear what went wrong tonight. Looks like RMU tallied a shorty at the end of the first.

Yep - they did.

I watched most of the first period (but missed the shorty). Your guys came out flying and almost scored about 13 seconds in. I thought "it's gonna be a long night for Bobby Mo", but they settled down after the butterflies went away.

A tough way for the Redhawks to start '10, but it's a win for RMU on and off the ice. I was in the booth when they beat Notre Dame in South Bend 2 years ago.

The wins and several close 1-goal losses this season shows Coach Schooley is building a solid program in da 'Burgh. Maybe not ready to reach the FF, but a good program nonetheless.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

I know it is a big win for RMU and congrats to them, but I sure wish it were someone else they beat. Now this six game stretch to start '10 just got a lot more difficult.

Here's what went wrong, Miami had a month off. RMU played two games last weekend, simple as that. Don't read too much into one game.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

well, we all saw that coming.

swooooooon.

Not a swoon, they lost their 3rd game all year. Step back from the ledge everyone, pretty dissapointing that one loss and people come out of the wood works to talk negative.... I tried warning everyone not to expect too much but looks like people did. There is something to taking a month off and Robert Morris playing two last weekend. Lets everyone relax and take a deep breath this team is still leading the CCHA and are 13-3-5 on the year, it could be far worse. Nothing has gotten any harder than it was before, nothing has changed because they lost last night. Miami just needs to stay with the plan and it will be fine. They will build off of fridays game and keep moving forward. If by valentines day they have lost more and have gone something like 4-10 then you can call it a swoon and have concern. But until something like that has happend take deep breaths and enjoy ride.

you still sure about that? It sounds awfully familiar to Army/Clarkson in 08/09. Michigan/Ferris State in 07/08 (Michigan may be a leap, but Ferris was awful). Our 3-5-3 stretch in 06/07. We were having great seasons up to those points as well, come back from holiday, and start chalking up the L's to teams that we shouldn't lose to.

Right now we are 0-3 against the worst, and soon to be defunct, league in college hockey. Ferris sweeps ND and now they have the same points we do in the league.

Awful sports weekend in SW Ohio, I know this team will get back in the wins department, but the question is, when? Given our history, and traveling to Ferris, it may not be this weekend.

Absolutely Im still sure about that, apparently noone heard my warnings. This isnt a conference game, goaltender stood on his head for two games and this was robert morris stanley cup. A month off takes a toll, this team will take a lot away from this weekend and regroup. This isn't similar to those at all IMO, this is the longest layoff Miami has ever had.

Next weekend will be a big two games for the league crown and this team will be just fine. Im not worried, but like I said if by valentines day they are 4-10 or so then worry but two NC loses to Robert Morris means nothing in the long run. Miami has proven themself throught the first half going up against a lot of power houses and winning.

Worst league in college hockey? I don't think any league with a team in the top 10 can be considered the worst league in college hockey.

CHA seems to be pretty competitive when Robert Morris (2nd in CHA with only 4 points, behind Bemidji state with 16 points) just swept the supposedly #1 team in the nation.

Absolutely they can be. These were the two biggest games in their programs history. Nice win's but if you can look yourself in the mirror and say Robert Morris is better than Miami you got issues. Bemidji is a good team but the other 3 in the CHA are poor it is what it is. RMU caught Miami at a good time, but their season is complete where we ( and I assume you ) have bigger plans for the season. These two games are meaningless to Miami, next weekend is far more important and I am sure the guys were looking towards that.

Not arguing whether or not RMU is better than Miami. Miami is by far the better program. I was arguing with the statement that the CHA is the worst league in college hockey.

Congrats to Robert Morris... and Miami- I hope you aren't too attached to your number one ranking!

your an idiot if you think that. Congrats on the sweep your program just careered it. Happens nice work but these two wins made your season we have bigger things on our radar....

I'm not a RMU fan... Just the statement that the CHA is the worst conference in the hockey is wrong. You think the CHA is worse than Atlantic Hockey?

Yea I do, look at the numbers. We know bemidji is very good, but the other three only have 5 wins a piece. Atlantic hockey doesn't play the CHA as much as one would think. CHA is 4-1-1 against them this year but atlantic hockey has half their league at or above .500 which means they have some good wins against the bigger conferences. Outside of Bemidji there isn't a legit team in the CHA its a fact. Yes they have shown up and played the game of their life occasionally this year but then they turn around and lose to really bad teams in bigger confrences. 6 games isn't enough to judge head to head but they are the better league IMO>

Not attatched at all could care less about the #1 ranking. I know you don't understand this ( because your team has never been close to being ranked )but rankings don't mean a **** thing, we will be there in March when it matters, enjoy watching us on TV.

I know you werent, but I think they are. Bemidji, to me, isn't a CHA team they are built for the WCHA where they belong. outside of them all three other teams have 5 wins  , handful of nice wins but a boatload of really bad losses. It is what it is, no shame in it. Conference superiority changes often. WCHA was down for a couple years but is back to the top, CCHA was up and now is down as is Hockey east. It happens, league is folding can't expect it to be a power.
