Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business
My roommate (not a huge hockey fan) got home after the game chanting "USA!!! USA!!!" after midnight. it was quite amusing! Those kinds of effort are exactly the kinds that casual fans love to see and will only help grow the interest in hockey here in the States.
My only hope is that the casual fans don't start expecting to win gold. It is possible, don't get me wrong. However, we still have to beat Switzerland again (most likely) and the Czech/Finland winner. It's much easier without having to play one of the Triad before the Finals, but it will be very difficult to get there. I just don't want the fans to be too distressed if it doesn't happen. A silver or bronze would still be a huge victory in my book.
More to it with all the hype all over majority of tv networks and radio all day on sunday, and not just sports networks, I think there were a lot of people tuning in that don't normally watch hockey. And you have to believe that some will tune in again because that was one of the most intense fantastic hockey games I have ever seen. And for the casual viewer that had to be a joy to watch!
What can you say about the effort the US team put forth last night, but it was phenominal!
