Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

God I hope everyone was watchin that US/Swiss game. That was incredible.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

I'd actually have to agree with the other guy and say that I'm really surprised Cody wasn't drafted in the last one. A lot of people tend to say that he is too short, but look at Jeff Lerg, he seems to be doing fine in the AHL. Look at Ryan Miller. Him and Cody are the same heighth and people can argue that Ryan Miller has been the best goalie in the NHL right now. He's one of the main reasons that Buffalo has been doing so well this year.

My point is, so what if Cody isn't the best goalie in the nation right now, he's definitely in the top five. Have you seen some of the saves that he's been making this year? AMAZING. In some respects (besides altitude i guess) Cody is better than Knapp. When watching games, I feel more comfortable with Cody in goal than I do Connor. Not saying that Connor isn't a good goalie as well, but sometimes his decisions make me really nervous.

Cody is a great goalie, and there is nothing that can be said to say why he won't be drafted this year.

I'm not really sure where your going with your comments here. I haven't heard anyone ever say that he's not a good goalie or such. I am pretty sure everyone (nationally) agrees that he's pretty much #1 or #2 in the nation depending if they're from east coast or west. But I think RHM's point is that Cody is not your typical sophomore. He's older and wasn't drafted when he's eligible. So I think what you're seeing (and this was my original point) is that Miami is developing the undrafted talent into exceptional players.

I mean I hope you're not trying to lean to a comparison btwn Cody and Miller. I love the kid, but that's a bit of a stretch. lol

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Also I never said he wasn't good, and he has made good saves but his numbers are inflated because of the team he has in front of him. I think cody is a spectacular goalie and wouldn't want anyone else on our squad but you got to be able to be subjective and Mark Chevrie is really darn good as well, he has been relied upon to win more games than not. Where cody isn't asked to win a lot of games, although he has and is capable.

I agree with you on the blocked shots. Leading me to respond here:

God I hope everyone was watchin that US/Swiss game. That was incredible.

Did you see how many blocked shots USA had!!?!?!?!? Wow! they just gave it their all out there. It wasn't pretty, but they were not going to go out in the Quarters. I heard a few people that were concerned that the team would let that #1 seed get to their cummulative heads. Answer: Not in your MotherTrucking life!!!

Trying to find some video for the NHL All-Star Game.. I mean the Canada-Russia game.

I don't think he really understands the whole process, its all good live and learn.

I know its hard sometimes for students but got to look at things objectively, I had that issue when I was younger but there is a lot more to the college game.

Jonas Hiller was unworldly...That game was right up there with US-Canada, what a freaking hockey game. That sequence with the swiss goal/no goal then US comes down and scores to have it waved off and a penalty called against was insane.

No doubt. I like how everyone in the building...anouncers included and myself... thought the swiss goal was in. But replay supported the ref's call of "no goal." I can't agree with the waving off of the second USA goal tho. Seems to me the guys were just jockeying for position when the Swiss's headgear came off.

its an international rule, any contact to the head is automatic penalty. zero tolerance, unlike any other level in the states.

however, how about Danny Boyle!!! goal and an assist in the early going of the first period already...what a game he is having already.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

you need to read up on draft rules and elligibility. He is no longer elligible to be drafted which is why he is listed as a free agent. Cody, I believe is 22, and the draft age is 18-20, someone correct me if i'm wrong but I believe that is right.

Also I never said he wasn't good, and he has made good saves but his numbers are inflated because of the team he has in front of him. A. Sorry I didn't know the rules, i must be an ignorant student.
B. Did I say Chevrie wasn't good. If so, point it out. Did I even mention him anywhere?
I am just stating that by what you wrote, and what I took out of it, is that you don't think Reichard has a chance in the NHL. So my mistake. I stated popular reasons why people tend to think that.
C. Who says Denver's defense isn't as good as ours in front of their goalie so that maybe Chevrie's numbers are inflated.

Who says Reichard doesn't have the capability to get to the talent level that Miller has? His talent level at the moment is obviously incomparable, I'm not an idiot. I'm just comparing their heights. A lot of people tend to look down on the shorter goalies, like they won't be able to make an impact if they were drafted. But as I stated, Miller, who is also considered a "short" goalie is one of the best in the NHL at the moment, so who says that short goalies can't do it?

look at shot totals, not to mention the eye test. And if you got out of what I said that I don't think cody can play in the NHL then I feel sorry for you...

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

actually it does lol, how did UNO look??? hot streak isn't impressive is it...

Nope didn't look too impressive on Friday night did it?

And as for that first comment...I hope that's sarcasm, but if it's not...you should be happy that women are on here actually caring about this sport, because I know for sure not a lot of women know/care about the rules. So sorry for not knowing one minute rule. So sorry everyone can't know everything about hockey that you can, but don't go around acting like no one can live up to the level you can. Cause you're probably not all that wonderful.

ummmm so since when is 6'2 short??? again do your research before going on a rant....and cody is 5'11 that is above average for men so I wouldn't technically call him short. Not one person has said a word about cody not being able to play at the next level. But the bottom line is he will be 24-25 when he is done at Miami which hinders his chances because of his age. He will get every opportunity if he chooses too and time will tell if he makes it or not.

lol the circus has come to town.....

I could care less if your a man or a woman, your actions put you in this situation. If your going to speak out against someone be able to back it up. Im all for anyone getting on here but don't come on here getting defensive when someone disagrees with you. Especially if you don't know a lot about the game, take things in stride, live and learn and you can actually learn things on here from people.

The reason I get defensive, is because you of all people say things to put people down, and make people feel really stupid. You act like no one can ever disagree with you (e.g. UNO), because you know absolutely everything because you played hockey?

ig·no·rant   /ˈɪgnərənt/ Show Spelled[ig-ner-uhnt] Show IPA
–adjective
1.lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2.lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3.uninformed; unaware.
4.due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

so no I wasn't kidding, based on what you said you admitted you are ignorant.

atleast you admitted you didn't know much, so no need to get hostile when others don't share your opinion especially others who are knowledgeable about the game.

Nope.

But you'll have to forgive RHM's assumption that you were a guy. I imagine that if you counted up all the women on this message board for all of the teams on one hand, you would still have a couple fingers to spare.

again you are wrong, I don't put people down unless they ask for it like you did. The regulars on here have great conversation and we all disagree at times but they don't get angry. As for UNO looks like I was right... Miami won friday but saturday was all UNO so looks like they were solid enough to deserve the praise they had coming in. I was actually trying to help you and wasnt being rude until you lashed out...even earlier tonight I tried to give you advice, just isn't what you wanted to hear. That isn't my problem.
