Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

We played a great game.Maybe a 1/4 bubble off from the Miami we have seen 98% of this season. Having said that I gotta say UAH impressed me. Their goaltender was unbelievable. But then I was not sure what to expect. Anyway,

GO SKINS!

I'll give it up to the Redhawks: given opportunities, they capitalized. Even strength, it was a very even game, even with MU massively outshooting UAH. We are used to that---only five games in 33 did the Chargers outshoot their opponent.

I was impressed with UAH in their shot-blocking and goal-tending, certainly. However, to call the play even is a bit of a stretch i think. This contest wasn't as close the score suggested. After that first Miami goal, the contest wasn't really in jeopardy, IMO. That isn't meant as a dig at UAH - they were simply overmatched in this contest.

In my view, Miami carried the play for the entire game. I liked how they were pretty loose and free in their play, but didn't get outside of their comfort zone. They knew what they needed to do and did it. After that first goal was scored,

Definitely can't wait for 8pm on Sunday!!!

It was the play I expected to see. Miami didn't get a lot of Grade A chances.

Your kidding me right???? Miami played a C game at best. It was a team that came out like gang busters, got a feel for the game and felt no pressure from UAH. From then on out it was cruise control for Miami. They didn't play well, but UAH got nothing going until late. There were spurts when Miami had mental lapses but UAH wasn't able to capitalize. Miami MUST play 60 min tomorrow to win.

War Memorial is a nice place and had a great time watching both games. Boy Michigan fans are extremely sensitive...

Need a better performance tomorrow to make it to detroit.

GFM- when or if you re watch the game you will change your opinion on that. Miami got a lot of quality chances, they just didn't burry them or capitalize. Miami was in control from the drop of the puck, never any worry out of me at all. Just seemed like a game where we went through the motions. Which I don't like to see at this time of the year but Miami had control of the game at all times....

However, UAH might have the best uniforms of anyone in the country....Also got to give it up to their band and fans who made the trip. Were definantly noticed more than the Bemidji faithful who were abismal......

For all Miami fans in Ft. Wayne. We are having a pre game party at the 5th Down. It is located by the courtyard and super 8 just off of highway 69 at exit 111 B. Party will take place between 12-7, come join us to prepare for Miami 2nd frozen four appearance! :D

If you go back and watch, I believe it took 8:42 for the Chargers to record its first SOG. Cody was probably thinking of breaking out the hammock by that time.

I am expecting the pace of tomorrow's game to be much closer to that of the Wisconsin/SCSU game tonight.

I broadcasted the game so I had a pretty good look at it. Don't dispute that MU controlled the play, but the boys pretty well expected that. The big issue was that the boys didn't convert anything in transition to an odd-man rush. Of course, the reason for that is because the Redhawks stickhandle very well.

Does anyone know of an internet feed (for those of us without cable) to watch tonights or possible future Miami games?

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Agree with RHM on a few of his posts, so not going to bother quoting them all.

First, as for yesterday: Definitely agree that Miami was in control for most of the game, and by control, I mean they set the pace. Unfortunately, the pace they set for a good part of the game was slow and unmotivated. I suppose that, as others said, they didn't feel much of a threat, but after watching upsets in the other Regionals, I wouldn't have taken any chances... Regardless, UAH was spectacular at blocking shots... how many times did Andy Miele sit in the zone for what seemed like an eternity trying to find the open shot, only to throw the puck directly into the Charger standing in front of him? And, I also really like the UAH jerseys... :p

Now for tonight: I am scared. I have full confidence that, if Miami shows up, they have what it takes to win. However, when was the last time Miami really showed up? The Miami we saw for most of the season? IMO, they have to shoot the puck A LOT more than they have been! We aren't here to put on a passing clinic. Make Hunwick work for it! If we sit around the zone cycling the puck for 20 seconds waiting for the perfect opportunity, Michigan is going to crush us every time and head back the other direction. 1 shot for every 20 seconds in the zone ON A POWER PLAY just isn't going to cut it tonight. Take shots and get rebounds.

I thought our defense looked significantly better last night than they have in a number of weeks, and I'm sure that was a direct result of practices since CCHA Detroit. They allowed very few opportunities and kept almost everything to the outside. We need to see that again tonight.

Who do we see in goal tonight? Hell if I know...

I think we can do it... but not with last night's effort.

Does anyone think maybe the line changes had anything to do with our play last night? Just at some points, some players together looked kinda messy. I don't know, which is why I'm asking, so no need to criticize my lack of hockey knowledge.

I noticed Rico made quite a few line changes last night. Like even the starting line. Do you think that Rico will be changing it back to normal tonight? Or will he continue with the changes he's made?

No internet to my knowledge. I would check espn360.com that would be the only place. That or go to a bar and find espn u.

If you are in Oxford every bar uptown should have the game on today

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Agree with the BandMan completely. The whole atmosphere of that game seemed strange/surreal and in slow motion. MU just does not seem to have the jump lately.

And '10 asks an interesting question about the lines. That was a major shakeup for Miami. So there are two questions for Miami: net and lines. We'll see--should be interesting.
