Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

One of the coolest moments of the weekend: The concourse of the War memorial filled with Miami fans post victory singing the Alma Matter. :D

I agree. It was loud as hell in those tunnel-like concourses as well. I felt as if we owned the joint on the way out. Anyone know if the band was eventually allowed into the locker room level to play "the song" for the team?

Michigan had the Redhawks on their heals last night in the first OT. The period break came at the perfect time and your team battled heard to make sure they ended it quickly in the second overtime.

Congrats to your team, and fans. I will be cheering for you down the street at Ford Field.

Thanks.

What I thought happened was that we gassed the Wolverines, but it was max effort by Miami in the third period that we completely dominated that made Michigan look slow and tired. So, going into that first OT I felt as if Michigan was out of steam, but all that effort Miami expended caught up to them, plus Rico really shortened the bench.

We were due to catch a break, and finally one of the bounces went our way in a big game.

I was practically skipping out of the arena with a silly grin pasted on my face that took about 40 miles to go away. It was an awesome atmosphere out on the concourses to be sure.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

wow, there are a lot of angry BC fans trolling this Miami board for some reason, based on the rep comments I'm getting.. (edit: I especially enjoyed the BC fan who told me to "die in a fire." good to see you're using your words)

anyway, my main point was to congratulate Miami fans on another good season and wish your team luck in the Frozen Four. If you've got a team poised enough to win overtime games in the postseason, anything is possible...

I missed this. I know at one point a kid in front of me turned to someone else, said "how do you feel about singing the fight song right now?" and the other few kids just started singing and everyone joined in. That was awesome, in the exact same way.

I was going to try and start the fight song up by the escalators but there seemed to be a disproportionate number of Michigan fans around me. Utilized my better judgement there.

Assuming you are a Miami fan and not some U of M'er who gets excited hearing the Miami fight song, welcome to the board!

Redhawk,

With all due respect, I think that Miami looked pretty good in the latter half of the third, however in the first overtime Michigan dominated. After the first overtime I told the Michigan fan next to me at the bar that this was a bad omen that Michigan had expended so much energy without sealing the deal. I left the bar thinking that Miami would probably win the thing.

Can swing either way. Not sure what the point of that post was or if it was addressed to a certain person (Redhawk is kind of general around here). Michigan was considered to be one of, if not the hottest team in the country going into that game. Not sure how it is a knock on Miami that it was a hard fought contest.

1 hour... 2 hours... who's counting? Apparently that "five hour energy" had the exact opposite effect once i took it.

I've only tried that stuff once but I experienced fantastic results :D

(That sounded like something from an erectile dysfunction commercial)

Last year the DC trip was full of "truckers luv it" and "6 hour powers", which were an extra hour, of power no less, for a dollar cheaper. But alas, the BP across the street didn't have any of those, and the five hour energy didn't do the trick.

Tried that once before a late-night drive. Downed the entire thing and it put me straight to sleep. Good thing the other guy with me took the coffee route, because he ended up driving the entire way.

Just take whatever they say is the safe amount to consume in a 24 hour period, multiply it by 3 and hope your heart doesn't explode. I guarantee you will not fall asleep tho ;)

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Well thankfully we only have between a 3~4 hour trip next week, and are the default home team :D

BC -- 13 hours
Wisconsin -- 7 hours
RIT -- 7 hours

Which means we get at least 1 more game of our awesome 1929 Red Wings' jerseys. I'm going to be sad to see them go. :(

True, but the people that won those sweaters in the auctions I'm sure are pumped.

How much did those end up going for? I remember thinking it would be cool to pick up Saksa's for as cheap as possible, it was ~$200 the last time I ever looked.

I think we are changing over to Adidas from Nike next season, new sweaters incoming by any chance?

Edit:

Not so cheap for a bench warmer (at the time)
