Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

couldn't agree more, shows how great this coaching staff has been in recruiting and selling everything they are doing to the top level players. The eye ball test does a great job at that as well. Its easy to sell something that is very appealing but had to get there somehow and that is kudos to Coach blasi, Bergeron, Brekke, and lets not forget Coach Blashill who was a big part of developing this program. Well I guess Coach Blash still does have a big part since majority of our recruits go through his junior program lol.

Yea even though the article said he didn't decide to come to Miami until after a year in the USHL, I remember him being committed when he was still playing highschool. So that shoulda been Blash doin the work recruiting, and Brekke doing the coaching apparently ha.

Man, what a boring second period, we really aren't playing our game and we look bad out there... :D

absolutley, your right he did committe his senior year of high school. To be honest its like the program hasn't missed a beat with Coach Brekke, what a hire that has turned out to be. I just hope he doesn't leave because we are lucky to have him, but if he does he deserves the opportunity and it will suck to have to play against him because he is a heckuva coach.

Definitely. Nobody thought our defence would continue to be THIS good and young, especially after losing guys like Roeder, Martinez, and Ganzak the past couple seasons. Hope he sticks in out in Oxford. We aren't too bad to want to jump ship are we?

I actually think this is the best the defense has ever been. I don't think he will leave unless its a head coaching job and you can't really blame him for wanting that.

seriously what a bunch of slackers lol...this is great for Team USA a game that they know they have won, it isn't that physical and it isn't mentally draining either. They should be rather fresh for the gold medal game on sunday.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Yeah... But there is a head job... At his alma mater..... Fingers crossed.

And wow, just watched the replay of the Fin womens goal. First thought on the three or so replays was "man thats bad luck, but there wasn't a kicking motion".

Then they zoomed in on the girl, yea Tre Kronor deserves that one back, she clearly kicked that puck in.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Some Shattuck love now, how about their leading scorer heading to Oxford :D

They say that on the broadcast? I heard them talking about all of the phenominal players that have come out of there, which is even more exciting that the leading scorer of a prominent program like that is coming to oxford.

And that leading scorer will be in attendance tonight in oxford as well.

Nah, I added that last part for them when they were mentioning Toews, Crosby...

gotcha, I was going to say I didn't hear that part. How cool is it that MSU had a viewing party on the big screen of the USA game at munn before the start of their game at 6 PM....that would be a fun day of puck!

Linesman blew it on that second buckeye goal. Where was the icing

Puck was either tipped or their is a rule in NCAA called the obtainable rule. In other words if a linesman thinks a player could take a step and reach his stick and get the puck it is ruled to be obtainable and the icing is waved.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Staarman was actually good tonight, I thought.

He had a classic line and a great point about schilling.

He said about Cannone: "Ive said all along, put this kid in a room with the lights out and he would still hit your tape..." lol

He also made a great point about Schilling. Talk about a kid who has made the most of a situation, he was a recruited walk on last year and played his way into the line up half way through the year and ran with it. He mentioned that he is one of the most sought after NHL free agents out there because of how much he has improved over the last two years. He is a bonified Defenseman now and has blossomed into a fabulous player. That is what you get at Miami, a bunch of guys who have tremendous potentional but haven't put it together and then they come to oxford and the coaches get everything out of them.

Fun times...bringing some of that energy to Columbus tomorrow. Once again impressed with VAIVE. Getting in front of the net deflecting shots, doing well on the forecheck. Also liked the phenomenal effort from Hetland. I really wish that wrister from the right circle didn't get gloved by Heeter. He wanted that goal so badly. Maybe he'll get another chance tomorrow. Go Hawks!

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Looking through stats, Wingles now has 94 points and inching closer to the 100 pt club. While Camper now has 119 points and if he keeps this pace up he will get into the top 5 all time in points. He would have to go off to get to Steve Morris's 202 total points but hey only 84 more to go, he can do it right? lol 9 potential games left this year and he is averaging a point a game so that would leave him with 73 points to get next year lol.
