Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

And I didn't mean the American womens team. Sorry I can't quote using the blackberry. But that's all I heard this morning on mike and mike people crying about it. Nothing wrong wit celebrating with your hometown fans. was there no drinking in new Orleans during the superbowl parade? It must have just been the cigars. Everyone is upset that they can smoke Cubans because they don't have a trade embargo

Also I heard about it this morning but didn't put it up over here...

Did anyone else hear about how some Americans are crying that the Canadien womens hockey team celebrated A GOLD MEDAL with beer and champagne? Really? That's something to complain about? I guess when celebrated an adult beer league championship, with beer, was wayyyyyyyyyyy over the line.

They should have wheeled a keg out there, and offered to share with the Americans. That would be true diplomacy.

I don't know if the women could have handled it. You know Canadien beer is like moonshine [/Big Daddy]

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

You have to realize that those people aren't any less of Miami fans because they cling to the old mascot. I can only speak for myself, but (as a teenager) I saw it as the university admitting that they were a racist institution.

I am curious: you say "the students are definitely not less deserving". Of what? Sorry but you guys aren't owed anything. If the alumni give, it's a gift that you did not earn.

I respect your opinion and I grew up a redskin and am now a redhawk. I won't get into things on here but I think its unfair to call the university "racist" and I will just leave it at that.

Shows how hipocritical the american media is....Guess they missed the Alpine Skier who popped a bottle of champaigne at the bottom of the hill after her final ski run, but haven't heard them mention a word about it.

Neither, but I can't say unless he says I can and understandably it would be posted on the Ohio State thread first but He and Gretz are like family.

still won't matter unless the administration buys in and Miami has a strong hold on the state in recruiting now. Doesn't matter who they get in it won't be anything like tressel they won't be a power right away.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

well a great start for Team USA, turnover and Malone burried it 2:04 in..

Also there is a link below for an article on Will Weber from the columbus Dispatch. I think this article is remarkable and after reading it, I have no idea how Miami got him away from Cornell. For as much as he idolized his dad who played at Cornell he came to Miami, shows you the great recruiting ability of this staff...

Perhaps, but Tressel did promise and deliver a win against Michigan as soon as he came on board and delivered with what was there when he arrived. Maybe a new hockey coach would promise the same thing about beating Miami. LOL! :D

I read an article earlier in the year about Weber that said the reason he chose Miami was because "he wanted to win championships".

Yea I read that too but it isn't like Cornell is a flash in the pan hockey school lol. You just read how he talks about his dad and how much his dad meant to him it must of been a really tough decision to not follow his dads legacy.

True, obviously Cornell has a lot more hockey tradition and success than us, he must have seen something in the boys in Oxford and Rico that pulled him away.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

won or given to them on a missed call....:p you see the replay yet?

Nah not yet I'll hit it up between periods.

And that is kinda ridiculous calling the university racist. I missed that one early this morning. The University was pretty respectful of the tribe and it seems like it was just a couple people on the board that spearheaded this effort to change the name. Why didn't we just become the Oxford Redhawks then if we seriously thought we were hurting the Miami tribe by using their name?

couldn't agree more, shows how great this coaching staff has been in recruiting and selling everything they are doing to the top level players. The eye ball test does a great job at that as well. Its easy to sell something that is very appealing but had to get there somehow and that is kudos to Coach blasi, Bergeron, Brekke, and lets not forget Coach Blashill who was a big part of developing this program. Well I guess Coach Blash still does have a big part since majority of our recruits go through his junior program lol.
