Re: ObamaRama 8

Money quote here...

"Which gets us to the Republicans. The question isn't whether they'll win seats in the House and Senate this year, and the question isn't even how many. The question is whether the party will be worthy of victory, whether it learned from its losses in 2006 and '08, whether it deserves leadership. Whether Republicans are a worthy alternative."

I see no evidence of this last point as there has been little recognition of mistakes or opportunities lost...but rather strictly negativity towards the administration which started before it entered office.

Wow, the same thing Bush got, I'm shocked:rolleyes:

The Dems admitted their mistakes... they weren't strident and they weren't left enough... that was (what they claimed as) their mistake. You mean maybe admit that they were wrong?!! Why would they do such a thing?

Funny now its evil when the Republicans claim the same thing.

Re: ObamaRama 8

So, I should pay $24 dollars to fill up and tell the attendant it only appears the pump says $38?

Tell you what, you try it first and let us know how it goes. Maybe it will only appear that the police come to settle the issue.

My point is quite simple. The price of oil dropped because of the recession. It's not like oil will remain that cheap, and anyone thinking so is fooling themselves.

Lot of it was speculation. Like that oil future trader making $100million bonus.
There is money to be made and investment banks, hedgies are back to business as usual manipulating the oil markets. They talked a great deal about new regulations but haven't seen any changes.

We have a glut of oil at the moment and refiners are running at 79% capacity which is the lowest utilization in like 10-20 years. And so we have another decoupling of supply/demand and "free" markets when you manipulate using derivitatives.

At the moment you have to bet with the manipulators, but if congress or Obama do the right thing and limit speculation and leverage then you better go short oil, I would imagine they will give ample time for Goldman to get out before they pull the rug out.

of course not... there's money to be made on arbitraging those futures.

Not even close. The Bush administration's top policy for about 2 years, the Iraq invasion, went through with flying colors...and with much of the country behind it. Now most know it was a mistake (with the exception of the ideological right). The economy faired poorly also. Sadly the stock the country gave to the right turned out to be horribly misplaced.

There is no evidence that the right understands the policy mistakes they made, was hypercritical of any Dem policies before there were any results, and have yet to come up with any policy positions that will take the country forward (with the exception of 'Obama bad').

Yeah, before 9/11 Bush got a free ride:rolleyes:

He didn't?

Seems he pretty much got one after as well. Any crticism he did get was from the lrft wing bloggers and the dity effin' hippies, and the mainstream media was pretty much dismissing them out of hand, for being left wing bloggers and dirty effin' hippies.

Now its the birthers who are dismissed out of hand and the main stream media is in Obamas back pocket. NBC, CBS and ABC might as well enter a cheerleading competition. Its the same ol, same ol.

So you agree with the birthers and think they should be taken seriously???

Re: ObamaRama 8

Much like these kinds of threads here.

"No U."

"No U."

When we wake up and realize that the special-interests are in control of our government, and our media is nothing more than mouthpieces for an agenda, then perhaps changes can be made. I ain't gonna hold my breath.

Re: ObamaRama 8

Yeah, thats what i said:rolleyes:
Do you think the dirty effin hippies should be taken seriously?

Depends. Didn't what they were saying about Iraq turn out to be true? See, if what you're saying is the truth, it should be considered, weighed and measured, and discussed seriously and deliberately in the media, not dismissed out of hand just because you consider the source beneath you.

Get back to me when the birthers show me that Obama was born in Kenya, or when the death panels start meeting.
