Is the inability to live in perfect virtue an excuse not to try at all?
9 times out of 10, Tech will lose at ice hockey to UMD. But they keep getting up and trying again, and once in a blue moon a goalie gets hot and makes 48 saves, and they come out with a win. Even if you "knew" they would lose again, how can you bash them for playing?

No. But to lecture and harangue, even pass legislation that condemns, others for the very same actions they engage in, is the ultimate in hypocrisy, and why we take such great pleasure in their own shortcomings.

If only they would just live and let live, then this wouldn't even be an issue.

I know, I messed it up. But there's a difference between bashing despicable hypocrites within an organization, and calling the organization itself illegitimate because of the individual hypocrisy... that becomes counterproductive, if the aim of the organization is for good.
