Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

It sure is, but there's nothing to be done about that. However for a good laugh could you please detail for us what impeachable offenses you think Obama has committed....

I would assume all of them.

Nothing he's done passes the "high crimes and misdemeanors" test.

He's not a southern social conservative. When those guys can't win at the polls they try to overturn the election in the courts. That's what reactionaries have always done -- civil law is just a means to an end for them; when it doesn't serve them anymore they are first in line for the coup.

The radical rump of the GOP think they are "real Amurka" and they are entitled to run everybody else's lives. Now that the cold equations of demography are destroying their influence both in the country and in the party they dominated for 30 years, we'll see more and more of this until they literally die off.

What a surprise: Ron Dellums and Henry B. Gonzales (among others) were Republicans. They're holding a spot for you and your family in the bunker. Before you pack, let me ask: do you actually believe that crud, or is it just a reflex?

And you repeat that silly Dem talking point about "overturning" an election. If Bill Clinton had been removed from office Al Gore would have become president, not bob Dole. Accuracy isn't exactly your long suit. Pontificating, on the other hand, is another matter altogether.

See, stupid is as stupid does. I haven't said a word about impeachment. But somehow you just know I favor it. I don't. To my knowledge, "the one" hasn't committed any impeachable offenses. Why don't you try responding to what I actually say. You'll look better without the turban. You and Kepler are joined at the lip.

As to stupid people voting, I assume you're not referring to the legions of inner city deep thinkers (some of whom MUST be eligible and legally registered) who will be voting for BO.

His wife said kids should eat less fatty foods? How dare she want kids to not be the fat tub of lards they currently are!

Yeah, what we're really short of in this country is pushy do-gooders. Since she can't be impeached, how about throwing her under a bus?

Hang on a minute. How is that different from, say, liberals who couldn't get the votes to make abortion legal in the 1960's, so they resorted to the courts to overturn the laws created by the winners of the previous elections? (I'm in favor of legal abortion, btw, just talking about the tactic, here)

The court is a branch of government, no more, and no less. Both sides use it as best they can to advance their agendas, and it's not evil or unfair when either side does it. It's simply part of the process in this country.

I think Kep was talking in general...and there are plenty of examples: plans to split Pennsylvania's electoral votes just because it typically votes for a Dem...and fighting tooth and nail against moving to a true one person one vote approach to electing a president which is more democratic & preferred by most US citizens.

Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

Going to popular vote to select a President is a horrible idea. The current setup isn't great, but it at least forces the candidates to leave the farking coasts for votes.

The name of the country is: The United STATES of America. Or did you forget? This is a republic, not a democracy. Think back to your high school civics. And you have been paying attention to Wisconsin and Indiana, right?

Teddy White was once asked whether we should have a direct vote for president. He replied: "What, and turn the election of the POTUS over to those crooks in Texas and Illinois?"

It's being reported that the FLOTUS spent $50K on London lingerie.

Typical Washington - spend a lot of money for nothing.

Thank you very much - try the veal......

If Pennsylvania is an outrage, then I'm sure you've been up in arms about Maine and Nebraska for a while, yes? Colorado too back in 2004 when they tried to change theirs?

Like those room service bill stories that spread around a couple of years ago?

I wasn't clear. Going to the courts on legal principles is as American as apple pie. The behavior I am objecting to is litigating for the sole purpose of overturning elections. The GOP instinct has been to try to unseat the last two Democratic presidents for no reason other than they hated them for being Dems. That's not the way our government was designed to function; it's an abuse.

If Obama wins re-election the Democratic nominee will have won the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 elections. The GOP still has very strong traction and even a chokehold in many states, but nationally it's starting to resemble the Whigs. This leaves about a quarter of the population living in a fantasyland where their state and local policies are somehow being thwarted at the national level by a "conspiracy" of elites or the media or the Trilateral Commission or whatever. They are like those fans who always believe the refs are out to get their team (cough SLU /cough). And of course the people who get paid to scratch their back will keep reassuring them in that fantasy because it makes them millionaires.

"Its been reported"...by who? Is this like the $200M it was supposed to cost for Obama to make an overseas trip? You remember - that estimate was off by a couple of hundred million dollars.

I look good no matter what. Methinks that if you looked like I do, you wouldn't be so PO'd all the time (wait a minute..Old Pio - Old PO'd...I think I just found your new nickname).

But, nice of you to insinuate that all inner city people are stupid. Are those white sheets in your house for sleeping, or do you dress up in them once in awhile....

In addition to being innacurate, you're not above, uh, untruthfulness either. Are you? Only the right advances conspiracy theories. Is that it? Why not reintroduce yourself to Gary Sick? And if by "unseat" you mean defeat at the polls, then yes, that's what Republicans want to do. It's racist and sinister to be sure. But there it is. Such pious baloney.

I didn't say all. Many of them are so patriotic they continue to vote long after they've expired, like government cheese.
