A conservative Muslim minister in Indonesia who is being criticized for shaking hands with Michelle Obama – and thus violating his pious claim that he avoids contact with women not related to him – blamed the exchange on the First Lady and said the touching was not his fault.

"I tried to prevent (being touched) with my hands but Mrs. Michelle held her hands too far toward me (so) we touched," Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring posted on Twitter, where he has more than 100,000 followers.

Why does anybody care what this clown says or thinks? Anymore than they'd be concerned about what Billy James Hargis would think.

So, first priority of the next congress... abolishing the incandescent light-bulb ban before it ever takes effect. At least that's what it should be.

They're banning lightbulbs? :eek:
That is the worst idea I've heard in a long time. When does this take effect? I will have to go out and buy many, many cases of lightbulbs before this happens...

So, of the two he had choices on you could argue both if not implemented would have sent the economy into an abyss. You could argue otherwise as well. But, since there is an argument to be made that the abyss could have happened without it I don't see how you could call it wasted money.

Investigating the President's Birth Certificate is a COMPLETE WASTE of taxpayer money.

I think this lightbulb thing is much ado about nothing. We have them in our house. You can buy ones that are instant on and have the same (or at least ridiculously similar) lighting properties as incandescent. Saves money, lasts longer, and they're relatively cheap now.

I don't like change. I'll stick to the bulbs I'm used to. I can't imagine using a trouble light with one of those new fangled lightbulbs.

hey, if you lived near the Mexican border, like we do here in Arizona, I'm sure the drug cartels would smuggle incandescents across the border to satiate America's thirst for them, just like they bring whatever else they want across the border

Just drop them off at a recycling center once every seven years when they burn out. As long as you're not using them for trap shooting, you're fine. Although, I'm a bit worried about BBDL on this one...

And there are the myriad of ijits who just toss them in the trash, which in the town I live goes then into the burner downtown...;)
