Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

Let's see, Democrats this week from the president on down embarked on a strategy of demonizing John Boehner in advance of the November voting. They don't really have much choice. Anyway, the ever helpful NYT, by "coincidence," publishes a hit piece on Boehner today. It was the ever helpful Times that published that "other woman" story about McCain. You remember, the one with zero sources. The next Democrat who whines about Fox ought to have a copy of today's Times shoved where the sun don't shine.

I wonder if the Times called the WH to give them a heads up on the story like that b***h Mary Mapes did for the Kerry campaign about the CBS slime job on Bush' national guard service. Just keep repeating: there is no MSM liberal bias, there is no MSM liberal bias. . .

Love the headline, couldn't they swap Boners name for Obamas? or Pelosi or Reid or......

No, no, no. When they kiss Richard Trumpka's big, hairy azz that's just getting in touch with the "voice of the people." I don't want to have to correct you on this again.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

The NYT is stupid for running that story and thinking it's somehow newsworthy or unique. If anyone wishes to run an investigative piece on any member of Congress with a lot of power, they'll find the same thing on both sides of the aisle. You simply don't climb to the highest rungs of power in our government without establishing deep ties with people who help bankroll your campaigns.

As for the criticism of his corporate flights and such - which would you rather have: companies paying for trips or the taxpayers paying for them? How many "trade missions" have we the taxpayers paid for so that members of government could fly to places like Italy and Greece?

While the Dems have to go on offense to have any chance of retaining their majority, I don't believe their attempt to make Boehner the issue is going to work. Nobody with half a brain will buy into the idea that he's any more in bed with lobbyists than the party currently in power.

More than that, what percentage of voters actually know who the heck Boehner is?

this is the proverbial hail mary...except unlike Boston College so many years ago, this ain't going to end pretty.

Old Pio - here's one for you. I almost never check my rep but today I did and found I got a red dot with the quote "you suck his d*** far too much" or something akin to that for agreeing with one of your posts...funny

as I continually say, for many liberals it's simply easier and better to shout racist, homophobe, islamophobe, whatever than actually present a reasoned argument.

too bad the person didn't leave their name:D

He's not exactly a household name. I suspect only the diehard voters outside his district/state know who he is. This isn't exactly Gingrich II (plus how many people knew who he was before the GOP swept into power in '94?).

Sorry. I don't know how to check my rep. I'm pretty sure I won't be the most popular deb at the dance. Maybe I'm better off not knowing. Yeah, too many of 'em rely on those little laminated wallet cards for my taste. Name calling isn't an argument.

Interesting sidebar related to that statement. Caribou Coffee, a chain on par with Starbucks around here for proliferation, has a daily trivia question that gets the customer ten cents off their order with a correct answer.

On Friday, the daily trivia question read "How many voters are in the Electoral College? Hint: It's the number of Legislatures + 3." When I was in there, at roughly 11:00, after probably 90% of their customers had already come through the line, the cashier told me that I was only the seventh person to get that one right.

It's really a sad commentary on the American people, IMO. While I don't expect people to be immersed in politics, I should think that in a city that celebrates its educated populace, more than a handful of people should be able to answer a basic high school civics question.

BTW, most guesses were between 50 and 100.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

Anyone who is dumb enough to play $5 for a cup of coffee is an idiot. That explains why none of the customers knew the correct answer.

A medium cup of coffee is a little under $2. The fancy schmancy drinks are $4.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

I wonder if they'd be more likely to get it right if they were asked *after* they had their coffee rather than before having it. Most people pre-coffee are hardly awake / functional. :p

That hint is a little oddly worded. I was all ready to say 53:o

Yeah, I misspelled. It should have read "legislators" or "Congressmen." Actually, it may have read "members of the US Congress + 3," but I hadn't yet had my coffee...
