Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

nice. well, let him have his rage.

I'll say this, when his 4 years are up the damage he will have done to this country is going to be staggering.

the really sad part is that 75% of it may not be reversable in our lifetimes

the end of american prosperity, american excellence and exceptionalism...

that really is an accomplishment unto itself.

Perhaps you can give us some sort of estimate as to when "The One" will be responsible for what happens on his watch. Another year? Two? Second term? When?

Apparently he is responsible for success in Iraq, thats not Bush...

For me, it'd be after the mid-term elections. It wasn't until 1983 that the US really got out of the 70s recessions (or "malaise," if you like :D ), and Reagan is generally thought to have been a success. So if Reagan got until +2 yrs into his first term, I say a president gets +2yrs into their first term.

I might have given obama longer if he had not spent 2+ trillion dollars he didn't have before the midterms even happen...

it's quite obvious isn't it?

never in bush's term did unemployment go above 6%
add to that the quadrupling or more of our deficit
the fallacy that Iraq is suddenly a good and just effort after just completely savaging the troops for years...and bush
socializing our healthcare system against the people's will
taking over industries against the people's will
apologizing for america on foreign soil time and again* against the people's will
and what's with the hell-bent mission to apologize to Islam every 2 seconds?
how about apologizing to christians and jews for not allowing them to practice as they feel fit and put their symbols in their yards if they feel like it?

yes, I'm quite certain it's the alinskyite I'm talking about and not bush jr. who was a conservative in name not practice

let's talk about how Obama has even destroyed the office of president by going on debasing talk shows like The View, or the night talkers.

I mean what a lousy and unprofessional precedent to set. and this guy was touted as the savior, smartest man ever to hold the presidency, and he just looks so presidential...

eff that.

even IF you believe america sucks and we've wronged everyone and somehow you become president, you don't sully our name in public. in closed door meetings or through back channels you may let it be known there's a new sheriff in town, but this guy is just flat out so far over his head I think a class of 5th graders could do a better job. yeah, I said it.

we've elected a college professor as president and will be paying for it well into my grandkids adulthood

FYP

Incidentally, seeing something about credit for getting out of Iraq, it reminded me of something else. With regards to the "war on terror," Iraq, and military tribunals, by in large, he's carried on with the same policies as Bush. There have been a few changes, but on the whole, he's largely kept to the same policies. Heck, Bush even set the Iraq timetable a couple years back to get out right about now.

With that said, it's funny to see the Dems laud Obama for his handling of most of these things, while bemoaning Bush for these same things. And, of course, the exact reverse is true of the Repubs. Party folk are funny.

That about covers it. You racist, islamo-homo phobes always insist on using facts instead of intuition or divine revelation.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

That would wonderful, but nothing leads me to believe Roberts is anything but a cheerleader for this sort of stuff. The biggest disappointment on the current Court is the guy who self-advertised as a neutral "umpire" is turning out to be just another assertive ideologue like Alito, Scalia and, on even-numbered days, Thomas. That means Law Enforcement 5 Civil Liberties 4.

You left out the other half of the the ideologues.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

Here's one where I'm hoping most of us can agree:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...gram-downed-expensive-payout/?test=latestnews

The young people wearing the uniform of the United States should have as few barriers as possible when it comes to voting. When I voted absentee in the Air Force it was difficult and you never really knew if the ballot got where it was supposed to go in time to be counted.

One of the things we learned in the 2000 Florida imbroglio was that military absentee ballots frequently aren't counted, since they can't change the outcome anyway. I can live with that. But what I can't live with is a putz like Al Gore who wants to be commander in chief while simultaneously trying to disinfranchise as many GI's as possible. He deployed lawyers in counties with large GI populations to make hypertechnical objections to GI ballots, knowing historically those votes go about 60/40 for the GOP, therefore figuring the more of their votes he could invalidate, the better off he'd be.

But the problem is much larger than Al Gore or Democrats or Republicans. We have a very spotty record in America, over many elections, in getting the votes from GI's assigned overseas in and counted if need be. We need to fix that immediately. And I mean right now.

It may be too late for this electiion, but we've got another one coming in 2012 and I want the votes of those GI's inclined to do so to count. How can the leaders of both parties be so cavalier about the votes of people who are literally putting their lives on the line for us? It's a disgrace.

I'm guessing the main culprit here is inertia. No matter. It's still a disgrace.

That we were headed seriously downhill before anyone even voted for him? Regardless of his failures, he didn't start this shi*storm and I'm not convinced "the other team" would have done much better. That's not to say he's not earned legitimate criticisms of the position he's in, but dear Parise a bit of perspective is in order.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

I'd say the rage was significantly more than 20% in this thread so far:D

This is just the sort of calm and reasoned thinking that gives Cafe threads a bad name.
