They profile, but in different ways. You don't think if police see a VW van with a bunch of hippie stuff and some white boys in there, the police aren't thinking "stoners?" ;)

Just playing devil's advocate here, sorta. When I had my Deadmobile (with the giant Grateful Dead logo on the hood) I was pulled over a couple times for BS reasons, because of the connotations that that logo had.

More to the point, an understanding of first century Jewish culture is needed to give proper context to those verses.

No that is why I said people aren't profiled equally. I used to live in North Minneapolis, and I had a cop behind me for 3 blocks with a burned out break light and weaving a bit because I was tired...nothing. (I was followed a lot but never pulled over once which is not the same way it works pretty much anywhere else) You wanna guess how often a cop followed a black person in a hoopty and they got pulled over?

Look I am sure most of the law in Arizona has a practical value, but even the cops down there were against the "Walking While Mexican" addition to it IIRC. I doubt it will last long.

It is funny to read Christian Circular logic...they spent a millennium + under the belief of "Convert or Die" but somehow they always seem to excuse that. Too funny. :)

Last time I checked Corinthians isn't from first century Jewish culture, but from Paul's own beliefs. Paul wasn't a Jew and did everything in his power to separate Christianity from Judaism and put his personal stamp on Christianity. You could argue Paul had as much of an impact on Christianity as Christ.

Education is a dangerous thing.

I wasn't defending any religion, only pointing out the irony of you complaining about men defending a misogynistic religion when even half a glance at the history of xtians would show the same thing for them.

But if you want Jeebus...

So tack on all the wonderful stuff found in the OT. And no, since the Earth is still here, everything is not done.

You may be right, but how does that make it ok to profile based on race? Profiling isnt right no matter who it is done to or why...unless you think pulling every Arab looking person out of line at the airport actually prevents terrorist attacks. It is all just grasping at straws, like when cops pull over any person leaving a bar at closing assuming they will find drunks. It is law via sabermetrics only using race or sex or age.

It is all wrong IMHO.

Paul was a Jew, although he became an apostle to the gentiles. True, not all the first century church culture was Jewish, but it was still first century culture and involved interaction with the Jewish culture.

Honestly, I think we are coming at this with two very different definitions of profiling. You seem to have taken it as a purely race based mechanism to find wrong doers, which I agree it has the possibility to devolve into.

But the way I define "profiling" and what I have been defending throughout this conversation, is that people who commit crimes usually fit a defined profile. I see police using that profile to catch criminals as 100% okay.

You're right. He was a Roman citizen though through his father who received it somehow.

I think Handy is right as this law does nothing to curtail Arizona's illegal swedish immigrant problem.
