Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Interestingly, a check of the Internet archive "Wayback Machine" finds that on April 10, 2007, Obama had his age listed as 45 on MySpace, which would be correct if, in fact, he had been born in August 1961 as has been trumpeted.

how is he aging so fassssssssst

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Time out from all of this rancorous back and forth for a little presidential humor, compliments of the King of Late Night as he channels Abbot and Costello:

Now back to the rancorous back and forth!

The man responsible for the O-as-Joker poster is neither white nor right wing!

And he is also not responsible for the version with the word "socialism" underneath it.
Then the counter exploded after a still-anonymous rogue famously found his image, digitally removed the references to Time Magazine, captioned the picture with the word "socialism" and hung printed copies around L.A., making headlines.
...
"It really doesn't make any sense to me at all," he said. "To accuse him of being a socialist is really ... immature. First of all, who said being a socialist is evil?"

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

I take a vacation and the Obama worship/slander drops two pages down. What's going on, does the Great One's gag order extend even to USCHO lunatics?

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Bill, if we wanted this steady diet of wingnut links we would just subscribe to Freep too. ;)

(I know, there are those of us on the other side who post nothing but Kos links. Plus ca change...)

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

It appears that Obama's "diversity" czar for communications is upset with the structural imbalance in talk radio (translation: liberal talk radio has been a huge failure), and is working on ways to try and get conservative talk radio off the air.

Bill, you do realize that posting links from NewsMax or WorldNetDaily are about as believable as something posted from DailyKos or Huffington Post, right?

You've got to get it from somewhere else before it's real.

I think you have that wrong, unless its from the Daily Kos or the Huffington post its not believeable

How about a newspaper from a heavily Democratic city:

http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090215/OPINION03/902150307/1008/OPINION01

Regardless, it's no secret the Dems would like to silence talk radio. It might not be high on their priority list right now, but they're still working on it. The credentials of the new FCC Diversity Czar aren't exactly balanced.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

There's no point in shutting down right wing talk radio Bill. The average age of the audience is in their late 60's and they're also most likely overweight smokers living in trailer parks, so its not like they'll be with us too much longer.

In other news:

http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2009/08/25/bernanke_to_be_nominated_for_2d_fed_term/

Good move by Obama. Long, long before he fell out of favor with the national press I was writing how Greenspan got way too much credit for what he did. Bernanke has earned his pay with how he's handled this crisis, and has had to do more in 1 year than Greenspan did in 20. (oh, and for the record, this is me complimenting a Republican ;) ).

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

The links we cross-post here are a public service. Without them a lot of folks here would literally never see anything that risked harming their eyes with a contrary opinion. :p

It was refreshing to be in the Great White North where you couldn't predict exactly the way a story would be spun within 3 seconds of turning on a station. That's almost certainly not because they don't do it, but just because I'm not familiar enough with their politics.

From brief exposure:

Conservatives (Tories, current Harper govt) -- post-rightwing fence sitters who are in office because

Liberals (Chrétien) -- Clintonista pragmatists got thrown out for various scandals and a general disassociation with any governance philosophy other than staying in power By Any means Necessary.

Canadian Alliance -- the immediately prior incarnation of the conservatives -- was the closest Canada has ever gotten to a GOP-like guns and gays fetishist party, with some nativism thrown in for seasoning.

The Frenchies are still doing their thing.

The NDP is a watered-down woulda coulda shoulda lefty party with no hope of winning anything.

Other observations:

Everybody hates Ottawa the way we hate DC.

Alberta is politically Texas.

BC is just an extension of the SF-Portland-Seattle-Vancouver corridor. They could break away and become Barristastan.

The Maritimes are politically and socially West Virginia. The Newfies are the part of West Virginia that even West Virginians think is crazy.

Nunuvut is that reservation in Oklahoma where all there is to do is huff aerosol from zip lock bags, except it's 30 below, as large as Northern Europe, and probably has as much oil under it as Saudi Arabia. And half the fresh water in the world. My vote for the 2200 super power is a polar confederation of Nunuvut, Scotland, Greenland and the Hanse Cities. By then it will be sub-tropical.
