Obama 7 - now what?

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

Kind of reminds me of the crazy guy I talked to once that said there should be no "Department of Energy" because it wasn't in the Constitution.

yeah, well we can call each other crazy (and I'll stay above that while you and the rest lob bombs) but that doesn't make a dimesworth of difference. Like I said today many democrats and their voters actively want socialism over free market capitalism and that's going to turn this country into a 2nd rate has-been quickly.

In college I blew off the kids who wanted socialism as nutjobs. I see they've now become the mainstream and it scares the hell out of me

I see current system's inability to provide health care/coverage to people that aren't able to afford the "market rates" as a big part of why we're already in many respects a 2nd rate country.

Or, "our current decision not to hand out free stuff to people who cannot pay for it is part of what keeps us from bankrupting the US and becoming a 3rd world country." Po-ta-to, Po-tah-to... :)

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

Leave your predilections out of this.
you shush now.
It's way beyond tired. "Tea bag" is a lot like "cut and run."
I vote for likewise ending use of "at the end of the day", "night in and night out", and "Make no mistake".
Barry. If it were possible to "make no mistake", you'd still be writing grant applications for mayor Daley. So shut up.

You shouldn't scare so easily.

As for the first point - why be so vague. You must have some examples in mind, so why hide behind "many" democrats? Let's have a list of 'em. It would be like McCarthyism. We could call it solovsfettyism.

False choice. We've never had pure free market capitalism here -- it's never existed in any country. There are always limits, it is always a spectrum, it isn't as if at some point you cross a distinct border from one into the other.

By standards of all the economic systems tried out in practice, the difference between the GOP and Dem visions is wafer thin -- compared to the rest of the developed world, Obama Economics is still extremely private market-centric (as one would expect from policies crafted by noted Marxist hothouse Goldman Sachs). That's one of the reasons the rhetoric has become so comical. Every "evil gummint intrusion" into the sanctified free market that Obama is suggesting has its roots in a bipartisan recognition that laissez faire is as silly as driving without brakes (allowing market forces to dictate the limits of policy is the equivalent of driving into a wall in order to stop -- yeah, it'll work, but...).

Echo Chamber report: today one of my conservative co-worker's first words (after hello) were, "so it's getting so that we can't even call a Jihadist attack a Jihadist attack." I thought that was a USCHO gripe, not today's talking point. :p

It boggles my mind that this lunatic not only remained enlisted, but was moving right on up the chain of command with regular promotions. This after his published praise of suicide bombers, possible correspondence with Al-Qaeda which was known for months, his tirades against the U.S. meddling... Didn't any of this raise a red flag?

The military needs bodies...they don't care about the details as much as they used to.

No, they don't. The military has met its recruiting goals easily, lately, thanks to the economy. For specialized positions like the JAG corps, they really get their pick of the litter; the acceptance rate's dropped dramatically the past few years.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

The military is under a tremendous strain right now, so I'm inclined to cut them a little slack. Its tough to tell when somebody's going to snap, and then predict that it'll have a violent aftermath. Its a tragedy pure and simple, but one I'm a little wary of pinning on a military screw up.

The only thing more aggravating than our president jetting off for speeches in Europe when we have pressing issues at home to work on, is when he doesn't.:p

It doesn't look so bad in isolation. But then you remember that he had the time to jet over to the country just north of Germany to lobby for a sports event for Chicago not very long ago.

If it were New York, would he have been lobbying for the United States?

A juvenile article who's sole purpose it to get neo-conartists to start doing inappropriate things with themselves while reading it. Looks like it roped geezer and Bob Gray in though. Big surprise there...:D  :D

Yawn. You really used to be a bit more interesting in your postings.

Based on the details that there were many complaints made about him, it looks pretty bad. You would think there'd at least have been a review of his SSBI.

Is there a detail anywhere as to what constitutes "praise for suicide bombers"? If it's "Allah be praised, someday I hope to make my wife a widow in the cause against the Great Satan" that's one thing. If it's like Bill Maher's factually accurate but politically incorrect and career highly inadvisable statement after 9/11 that's another.

But either way, if he's drunk dialing bin Laden, well, there might be a clue there...

I put one of the little Rover-aids for sarcasm detection right there on the end of my post, and it still didn't help? Should I have used a wink?
