Lots of Norwich women's hockey news from this past weekend's banquet.

norwichathletics.com said:
The banquet program concluded with Bolding introducing next year’s captains. Bolding tabbed will-be senior forward Melissa Rundlett as the next captain after Leclerc had held the “C” for the last three seasons.

Rundlett will be joined by fellow senior assistant captains Julie Fortier, Amanda Wilks, and Sarianne Lynn who will all wear letters for the first time in their careers.

Norwich will tentatively open its 2011 title defense the last weekend in October when it hosts the 2nd Annual East/West Hockey Classic. The Cadets will play perennial powerhouse Elmira and then follow up with a national championship rematch against RIT. Defending ECAC East Tournament champion Manhattanville will also be in attendance and will play RIT the first night and then follow up with Elmira the next day.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

We would certainly like to thank all involved with Norwich Women's Hockey and the Prez for the hospitality shown to the out-of-towners this past weekend during the East/West Classic. From the pregame meal to the banner hanging ceremonies it was first class all the way. The hockey action was superb with all four teams playing some of the best hockey I have seen at this level to date. Congratulations to you all for an excellent weekend and a Special Thanks to Coach Bolding for helping out with the officiating on Friday night... your team probably wouldn`t have pulled it off without you. :)

Let me guess; refs save their best for last instead of letting the kid's decide it.:)
