Norwich Women's Hockey

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

If you are implying that this player causes problems with teammates and such I will tell you now that that will not be a problem on a team coached by Coach Bolding. Players love to play for him and he is what players would call "a players coach" ........................to a point. When someone starts to be a problem it is addressed and taken care of.....Coach Bolding will not have it and he is a creative enough coach to remove a player from his systems and still win games......done it in the past and he will continue to do it. This is a team that has very few internal problems in it's history and my guess is that when & if this players does show up at Norwich she will love the school the program the supportive community and playing for a Coach like Mark Bolding.

That isn't what I was implying at all,

Your thinking too much...take the rest of the summer off.

Easy there Equipment Guy... no one is slagging the Emporer coach Bolding here.... listen I'm no Einstein like you but even i can see where a returning roster of approx. 22 , numerous recruits and a 5 goalie rotation might cause a little internal strife but I'm sure the Messiah will sooth everyones bruised egos and all will be good in Kool Aid land when its said in done.
Looks like you'll be a busy guy though, keeping 30 sets of equipment all sorted out, trying to figure out who's playing that night and what 10 are sitting.... man I wouldnt want your job!
I'll have a little private tete de tete with my pal the fiver and ask him to quit posting on the Norwich site cause he's hurting peoples feelings.... you'll have enough of that to deal with once the season starts:rolleyes:

Fascinating that NU draws all these snipes - jealousy maybe? A three year old program getting slammed like a long term power. The whole program is still taking shape. We don't know at this point exactly how many and who among those eligible to return actually will return, and how many of the projected recruits will actually turn up. There is a phenomenon that admissions departments call "summer melt" and it may well apply here. Mark is a smart guy, and I'm quite sure that he has a good idea what he is doing here.

Quite seriously I'm sure he does. He also appears to run a very classy program packed with some excellent athletes. We need more like that.

If you want to know what irks people about Norwich just look back at that classless display by the parents at both Plattsburgh and St.Peter Mn.
If your a parent and were part of that then shame on you.
I know there are those that try to justify it but its not possible.
Kool Aid drinkers like Equipment Guy dont help either but he appears beyond hope.

Don't know anything about that. I was in Lake Placid and Northfield. I've heard rumors, but the last time I checked, players aren't responsible for their parents' behavior, nor is the program. Out of total ignorance, I'm willing to believe it was in the nature of never having been there before and not handling the victories with as much class as the players and staff did.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Interesting how some enjoy fragging people with no consideration for the innocent. May I politely suggest you toss your grenades on someone else's page before one blows... still in your hand... on this one.

So while the squealing hockey mommies and hockey daddiy parents put on their classless display you and some of the others were outside. Maybe enjoying an adult beverage?
Hence your innocence??
OK i understand..... I'm sorry. Just thought with a moniker like "Hockey Daddy" you might be at the front of the line

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

For the benefit of those who are not aware, there is a tentative Norwich women's hockey schedule out for next season…

10/29 home vs. RIT
10/30 home vs. ELMIRA
11/5 home vs. CASTLETON
11/6 home vs. NEC
11/12 @ PLYMOUTH
11/13 @ USM
11/20 home vs. UMB
11/21 home vs. ST A
12/3 home vs. PLATTSBURGH
12/10 @ TRINITY
12/12 home vs. AMHERST
1/12/2011 @ PLATTSBURGH

Again, this is only partial schedule, with some holes yet to be filled. It's interesting to note that unlike last years schedule, the first half of this one is loaded with some excellent programs so a clear picture should develop accordingly how our ladies will fare going forward.

Too bad that Elmira game is home as they have a bar actually in their rink… now that’s class. lol

Now those Platty games should prove to be especially interesting, considering how the season ended for them… and their fans. Hopefully they are building a Kool-Aid bar inside this summer as it will most likely be cold in the parking lot come that Jan game.

( lest we forget, life without humor is no life at all)

But the biggest and badest game of the regular season will most likely be that Amherst game just before the xmas break. I don't care who they recruited or who they lost, they will again be a dominate force because of "Mr. Chapeau".

You're right. What a great schedule. It's too bad that you have to travel that far and out of conference to play competitive teams. It would be nice for the ECAC East to pick up the pace a bit.

( lest we forget, life without humor is no life at all)

Thank you for recognizing that!!

Sorry if I implied anything other then Coach Bolding runs a very good program that kids enjoy playing at...that was all I was saying, nothing more, nothing less.

Mark does not have an overly talented team, look at the roster. Most of the players (besides LeClerc and Fortier(who no one ever heard of prior to her coming to Norwich) no one could name). Some of these players are left over from the club team and others are ones that just showed up and still others are recruits that probably would have gone elsewhere had another program taken the time to talk with them.....they are not top recruits from major programs like NAHA or any other, look at the roster. Coach does what he does through disipline of playing within a system or group of systems and getting all the players, talented and not-so talented to buy into that system. He is sucessful because he builds the system around his team and not team around a system. He will be able to start being able to recruit players to the system now that the program is more established, but through the first 3 years he has not had that ability given the talent pool he had, so he did it the other way around.

As far as "drinking the Kool-Aid" .......I love the school and all that it stands for ( like you all do with your given schools) but I realize they are not the end all be all......they have and will continue to make mistakes but I think that for a 3rd year program they have done pretty well.........

I am totally impressed with the way that the program has been run and the excitement and commitment to the program that the players have. In my last year of teaching there, I had the distinct pleasure of teaching some of the young women in that program. It is a real point of pride for the school and the program that many of the players on that team are very good students. At the risk of violating FERPA, I wouldn't want to single out any individuals, but some of those ladies are very, very bright and committed students as well as great players.

Last year's team set the bar very high for the incoming class.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Hoping this post will get the subject matter going in a different direction, considering it's summer.

I was felling, bucking, and splitting/stacking rock maple for firewood on a rather warm sunny day recently. While the sweat rolling down my temples under my hardhat stung my eyes, I couldn't help my thoughts wandering from the task at hand. One was centered on the story of the day, being that POTUS had fired Gen. McChrystal for "telling it the way it is" in the now infamous Rolling Stone article. For me anyway, it was refreshing that finally, someone had the balls to say the truth loud enough for the world to hear. And for those of you that did not catch the story, he basically said that our D.C leadership were a bunch of wimps and used other words probably not proper in these pages. Thank you for your service General.

After several gulps of water and refueling my freshly sharpened Jonsered, I went back to work on the next tree. Figuring I'd lost about 5 pounds by now, I started thinking how my hockey daughter would be proud of me for staying lean. With hockey being perennially stuck between my conscious and subconscious state of mind, my attention drifted to some of the post on these pages. Not wanting to agonize over some of the ahhh… chirping going on, I quickly moved along and began reminiscing on all the great experiences that the game of hockey offered us, from the learn to skate days to college hockey. I couldn't stop thinking how blessed we were to have been part of it and then it hit me. What to do when it's over?! How would I ever get thru the firewood chore?

With the saw whining at full RPM thru a 14" log, my attention came back to the immediate duty, just as the bar was about to get pinched.

Well, Gen. McChrystal's career is all but over and although I appreciate his exit, I for one will not be dragged into a ****ing contest with some of you going forward from here. Good luck to all the teams/families out there in hockey land. I'm already looking forward to a good cold rink... hey, maybe that feeling will help the next time I'm cutting more firewood.

bye for now. :)

Is that Hockey Daddy in the video?
You are a lean mean cutting machine...

I dress in women's clothing- panties and a bra
I wish i were a lady just like my dear papa"

Wow.............listen there 2 for........your name fits.....(you and 5 For should start your own Cult) the guy was simply saying that a coach runs a nice program that players like to play for and it has very few internal problems....that is it .....nothing more.

And how do you know how many players and goalies Coach Bolding will have this season??? I doubt even he knows that. This is D3......no one knows until that first day on the ice. I am sure that some will see the writing on the wall and after preseason decide that their time is over and that the program is growing and progressing and if they have not done the same.....then their time is over........

And if he is somehow involved with the school or team (a presumption that you seem to be making, I guess based on his screen name) he probably does have a better idea of what is going on with the team then you or 5 For.....so he may in fact be an Einstein compared to you on matters that concern Norwich?????

Exactly.

I was recently privy to a discussion between mother and daughter regarding the daughter being recruited by a DIII school. Mom was waxing on and on about how her daughter was so fortunate to be recruited by this, and apparently, several other schools. The daughter laughed and said to her mother, "Yeah, whatever, I'm just using that to get into the school. If I make the team fine, if not, no biggie, I don't really care."

Unfortunately, at the DIII level this is a common theme. I've seen players gain 40 pounds in the off-season, decide that a new relationship is more important, or prefer to focus on academics, and ultimately not make a team or play more than a season. Coaches have no choice but to recruit a bevy of players and hope that some actually turn up and stick.

Great, another beat down on DIII hockey. Bunch of fat kids that are in it to get themselves a degree and a man. Geez Huxley give us a break.
