Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

Re: Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

Sorry, You're correct. They came in right after the Pathfinder during winter break.

Correct that was Ultimate Hockey Weekend 2010.

Adrian @ Oswego on Friday night
Plattsburgh @ Elmira on Saturday afternoon

Four top 8ish? I think teams in 2 days 2 hours apart.

Re: Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

I'm pretty sure St. Norbert is going back to the Oswego Pathfinder in 2013-14.

I have some 15-year cheddar in wax in my refrigerator that I haven't cracked open yet. If we get two wins this weekend that might be the time to crack open a Pabst and the wax on that cheddar.

PBR!! The old Red, White & Blue!! It was the beer of choice to Celebrate the Bi-Centenial in 1976!!

That would be worth a plane ride. When that is confirmed i'll be looking into tickets.
Kreitzberg, Stafford, and the Campus Center are on my bucket list for places to see games.

Wow, seeing that in writing makes a Guy realize how dull his life is.

Just makes you a fan of Division III hockey. You should put that in the thread.

You are correct. Ok, SNC will beat Norwich by a 8-1 margin. Do I believe this? Well, no but at least this should get the hockey crowd discussing the hockey game!

Re: Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

I ‘m not for sure but believe this is the first trip for Amherst in program history to the final four. The other three teams Norwich, Saint Norbert & Oswego have made the last two final fours (2010 &2011). All three teams failed to make the final four in 2009. Norwich won the championship in 2010 over SNC (2-1) in 2 OT’s and lost to SNC last year in the semis (3-2). Oswego has lost both times in the semis 2010 to SNC 4-3 & 2011 to Adrian 5-3. SNC has been to the finals both years with a lose to Norwich 2010 (2-1) & winning the Championship last year over Adrian (4-3). Upper classman with play-off experience could be key in determining which team will be celebrating Saturday night. Typically games like these are normally decided by defense so I would not be counting Amherst out and they could be the wild card team in the final four.

Ultimately I’m looking for a championship game between Norwich & Oswego. Norwich has not played Oswego since the quarterfinal 3-0 lose in 2007 @ Oswego. The perfect ending will be a GWG by Kyle Thomas blowing past the OZ defense and beating Hare by a hair. :)

The above is a link to the Greenby Press Gazette story on St. Norbet's trip to Lake Placid to play Norwich, which includes a video clip with some of the most interesting interview's I have seen this year. St. Norbert record at Lake Placid is 3-1, the only loss being the long OT game with Norwich a couple of years. From the video clips it looks like St. Norbert's has good size.

There was an article in the local paper in Vermont about Norwich (protected site) which said Norwich went to UNH to play on the big ice surface. Norwich has already played two games at Middlebury on its big ice this year and from what I can remember the big ice didn't effect Norwich and St. Norbert the last time they played at Lake Placid. Does anyone know if St. Norbert's plays on any big ice out west?

SNC has played two games on big ice this year when they played at Marian for the Thanksgiving tourney.
I did not attend the games, but Pete may be able to help.
The CCC does house an Olympic sheet, so opportunity for practice is there for them.

Re: Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

Norwich has played four times on the Olympic sheet (200x100) this year. Norwich's rink is 200x90
Middlebury- 2 games
University of Southern Maine - 1 game
Skidmore- 1 game

Re: Norwich vs SNC: Battle of Champions!!

Agreed there are no olympic ovals as part of the NCHA, but access to them when needed!
is it Friday yet?!
