Norwich v. Middlebury

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

I think what impressed me most about THE GAME, was how our defense played the game, supporting Klinger and at the same time scoring 2 goals. Well done:D

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

If that goal doesn't make "Newschannel 5"'s top play of the week, the consumers who vote must be Midd fans :)

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

You just had to be there....what a great game for the Cadets....lots of Norwich fans including students.

Crosby, the support from the crowd was obvious on the internet broadcast and listening to Commo. Wish I could have been there, it was exciting to watch from home, but just not the same. What was your take on the 3 goals called back from Midd. There were two that I was sure the ref's got right, but watching on the computer doesn't give you all the info you need. Did you see the plays, what did you think?

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

The first two were clearly after the whistle....like almost a second. The third was difficult to tell because I was at the other end of the rink. Looking at it on the news last night, it certainly was a close call, the net did come off so I would have to say they got it right :) :) :)

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

Someone want to tell the TV guy a team that has four ties is not "perfect" on the season.

They are "unbeaten" on the season.:)

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

you just did...he is Puck Voice on the board:D :D I keep telling him its a hand pass but he wants to call it a glove pass:D :D All and All he is a great guy and does a great job.

He's talking about the WPTZ guy, not Commo. As for the glove/hand pass thing, what does the puck touch - the glove not the hand - it's a signature kind of thing. The one thing Commo does that drives me crazy is sometimes he gets mixed up at call NU the Cats :(

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

I think that the refs got all three calls right, but I have a question about the second one. The puck was indeed played with a high stick, but the resultant deflection missed the goal. Play continued for maybe two or three seconds before the puck went in. Then it was ruled a no goal due to the high stick. At what point does the high stick become null and void? Does the defending team have to have possession for a time? Does the puck have to come out of the zone? I'm not complaining just don't understand.

I was going to say..I thought PuckVoice was Commo.

After it's touched up by the offending team (unless it goes in the goal), I believe - it's like a hand pass. You'll see a puck played with a high stick and the offending team not touching it in hopes that the other team will take control so that the face off doesn't go back to the other end.

Thanks for clarifying, that makes sense.

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

Give Midd coach and players alot of credit. Not one complaint about officiating after the game to the press.

I would say that it does more good to complain during the game (say as you are walking off the ice with the officials between periods....)

I'm not saying, I'm just saying!

But we've all seen/heard whines in the media. Midd isn't even saying that they were the better team on the ice, like some other losing teams :D have said.

If all you can do it complain about about the officiating to explain away a loss, you don't have a lot to stand on.

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

Well thats obvious. Yet it would have been very easy for a coach or player to comment on officiating after 3 third period goals were called off even if they were good calls. Again give Midd credit.

Re: Norwich v. Middlebury

Just wanted to comment that Middlebury goalie John Yanchek was outstanding. Norwich must of had at least 10 grade A scoring chances which Yancheck mostly stopped. I thought Middlebury was surposed to have goalie problems? Very high energy game for both teams.
