Since I happened to see that there was a bus trip to Plattsburgh being put together when I was at Norwich for the Primelink, I figured I'd share this tweet from Coach Bob Emery with the Cadets fans. Please spread the word and help out, if you can!

Bob Emery (@emeryrd)

Toys for Tots night @ Stafford December 7 vs Norwich # all please bring a new toy # asking any Norwich fans that are coming please join in

Norwich has done this as well for the last game before break. Obviously this year it won't happen because we are away, so I would agree that NU fans ought to participate, too (of course this assumes they can get tickets :D)

Bob Emery has said it before, no one gets turned away...plenty of standing room, if nothing else!

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Anybody know why USCHO has Norwich listed as playing 8 games with Mulvey having 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points instead of 7 6 13? Are they counting one of the exhibition games and if so, why? How does that affect stats in Div III both team wise and individual, ie. leading scorers? Which one is official?

The official stats are on collegehockeystats.net

I believe the Dartmouth counts as one of their 25 regular season games, but not is not consdered in DIII stats.

That is correct, I'm not sure how USCHO is generating their statistics. I do know that for NCAA purposes, the collegehockeystats.net figures are the official ones.

Norwich will undoubtedly be the new #1. IMO, they are the best team all-around in DIII. Perhaps not as explosive as Oswego, but stem-to-stern they have the whole package.

Cards usually play them tough and may have some momentum coming off huge Oswego road win. Glad it's at our barn as Cadets are brutally tough at theirs.

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

It will be interesting, but Norwich struggled today winning in the last minute. Not sure if the Platty win will dethrone Ozz.
If you look @ Oswego's Strength of Schedule, it's a wonder why they're in the top 10 at all. They've been beating (as of now) weak teams. I have them with an SoS of #59, Prof's computer has them somewhere around there, too.

Historically, <strike>Prez</strike> Norwich has had trouble winning @ Stafford. It may be an upset if they lose, but it will not be unexpected.

Congratulations Norwich! Just about the time you think there are no more rabbits in the hat--Mulvey finds another one. But it isn't an illusion folks. The color commentator for Castleton called it when he described, "This Norwich team is a bunch that just does not get rattled." Clearly he saw what we all did, e.g. Cadets experience matched with its talent and combined for a full 60 minutes of heads up hockey that remained focused on the game. Excellent weekend for the Cadets and a roller coaster of emotion for the fans for these last two weeks. I love it.

Castleton certainly showed more than their record would bare--and this game might easily have gone their way. They are a disciplined club that was in the game from start to finish. Their season record so far does not begin to reflect the quality of this Spartan team. And I suspect they will be in the hunt when both teams meet again early next year.

The Castleton broadcast was first rate both in terms of the play by play calls and the color commentator. The color guy's remarks, based on his experience as a referee, gave listeners some excellent insights to the game. Both members of that broadcast crew get a 8.73 based on a scale that has Norwich's Puck Voice & Co. at a 10. And both were far less partisan then other less experienced broadcasters. Nice work.

I am shocked by the Oswego/Platty score. Congratulations Cards....but good luck to our Cadets on Friday. What a season! :)

Struggled? Second Game on the road against a team who has ben playing well lately. Norwich out shot them 19-11 only allowed 1 shot in the second period. Norwich hit the post 3 times Could have ben a 4-1 game. Norwich got into penalty trouble in the third is the only reson Castleton had 6 shots. The Castleton golie played a good game to keep it close. Norwich beat Middlebury who beat Plattsburgh who beat Oswago

WCAX TV 3 video of the Castleton/Norwich game Saturday at Spartan Arena in Rutland. Castleton goalie Erick Cinottti played an outstanding game and made a lot of tough saves.
