Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's
What happen? Where did he get hit? Is he okay? Assume he was scouting WI/PS. Correct?
Watched what I could of the broadcast (it was on and off). Neither Wentworth or Plymouth looked very smooth--with lots of up and down--back and forth. The size of the rink seemed to effect Wentworth's game (they play at home in a larger joint 200'X90').
Prezede....you were there. What was your impression of Wentworth? Problems? Opportunities? Can they run with our big dogs?
Steve is doing fine. He'll be okay.
He was there scouting and also did a video exchange with Wentworth.
As for my thoughts on Wentworth....they really looked discombobulated in the first 20 minutes. Plymouth was carrying the play and Wentworth kept trying to do the same thing on the breakout with a lot of individualism and finesse moves around Plymouth State players and it just wasn't working. Neither side really had any great opportunities in the first.
In the second Wentworth started to get things rolling and its ironic they were down 1-0 after 40 minutes because I thought they dominated Plymouth that period. PSU captalized on the 4x3 advantage though with some nice puck movement for an easy tap in goal.
Wentworth's first goal the PSU goalie way over committed to the shot and completely left the left side of the net wide open which was more than enough room for Jameson on the PP. They ran an umbrella style PP.
Second goal was a nice individual effort that the guy could even stay on his feet while evading a Plymouth defender. Then he faked the goalie out of his pads and slid it behind him to make it 2-1 Wentworth.
I didn't think either team was overly fast and I wonder if Wentworth will have issues keeping up with some of our speedsters on the big ice at Kreitzberg. The Leopards goalie also wasn't tested much at all so I'm not really sure what to think on him. He was flopping all over the place in the closing minutes with the goalie pulled but Plymouth couldn't score even though they had two great chances at it.
Plymouth started to run about two lines by midway through the second period and I think they ran out of gas a little bit.
The Jamesons are both good players for Wentworth. Keep an eye on 13 and 5 on Saturday night.
We'll see what happens Saturday but I think Norwich's speed and depth will be awfully tough for Wentworth to contain.
