Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Great game by the Cadets last night. Would have given anything to be their in person tonight, unfortunately still at UNH and not able to get home for the weekend. Spring break is the same week as Norwich's however and where most students will be flying south for a nice vacation on the beach I will hopefully be following Norwich back to Lake Placid.

Great feed by NSN last night, I only experienced a couple of minor freezes but was able to watch the game error free for the most part. I was in awe of the speed and precision of Norwich last night. I don't think I have seen that much dominance in a very long time, the Cadets game plan worked to perfection and they stuck with it until the end. Was very proud of the Cadets at not giving into Castleton's efforts to turn the game into a slugging match. I know Norwich reacted a bit to some of the cheap shots but I believe you have to do a bit to stand up for yourself and your teammates. After the hit on Mulvey (when he was down on his knees defenseless against the boards and was still gone into hard, smashing his head into the boards) I was worried it would turn ugly and that a brawl might occur. Was extremely proud that Norwich didn't give into any of it, as that is what Castleton would have wanted. As a guy that has played a lot of sports and watched a good amount, I know a hit like that can be a point where a game unravels and players stop using their heads and look for revenge. Great to see the Cadets stand above Castleton in play and class. Great day to be a Norwich fan! Looking forward to being present for the rest of the road to the frozen four in Lake Placid.

There was a lot of chippy dirty stuff going on behind the play that you must have missed. Not to mention that little contretemps that happened at the start of the third period. I didn't feel bad for Castleton for exactly that reason. They didn't clean up their act. They came out good, we rang up 3 quick goals and they gave up. I'm not sure why Todd kept changing goalies. It wasn't the goalies' fault. The last 10 minutes or so, except for the fourth line, which kept digging the Cadets were just trying to keep the clock moving and stay away from trouble. I think if they hadn't done that, the scene could have gotten ugly. My biggest fear was that somebody on Castleton would start something that would lead to a brawl and having to sit somebody out next week.

I stand corrected, unfortunately. I did not see a lot of what you and others described but I did catch the Lindensmith incident and another hit after the whistle. Guess I was trying to make a cloud into a rainbow, maybe after all is said and done, "the best team won". And the best team had the most class and restraint.

Home against the winner of Wentworth/Plymouth at 7pm next Saturday.

Norwich's restraint was admirable. I have not seen such a dominant performance by Norwich since the Aucoin teams. I think somewhere I said they played like they could have beaten the Bruins. I hope they don't let down next week.

With a 4 month and a 127 post head start :p CONGRADULATIONS none-the-less.
We aren't Middlebury, so the "congradulations" taunt doesn't work :D
We don't care, we won fair and square. We never posted about basketball either.

Norwich, Middlebury, they are all tree huggers, what's the difference :p

Norwich has made the final four 3 times in the last 4 years. If they win their quarter-final this Saturday they will have made the final four 4 times in the last 5 years. Middlebury has had down years and are 0 for 5. :)

I was surprised to see Currier on defense last night, thought he was a forward. Maybe he has played defense in the last few games and I missed that. What is going on with Fulton, Gatien and Gour?

Saw this post in the previous thread that was closed and wanted to address it.

Currier was recruited as a defenseman from the Green Mountain Glades but made the transition to forward for much of this season and played very well IMHO.

He is now back playing his normal position.

As for why the three you mentioned aren't playing...can't answer that one. You'd have to ask Coach McShane on that. :)

Can someone help me out with this? Is there anywhere we can see how the commitee ranked all the teams before putting them in brackets? All I get from the NCAA site is the bracket. I am assuming Norwich was ranked #1 but what about the rest of the field. Thanks

Never mind, I just looked again and they had it there this time, must of posted later in the day.

You night have seen the USCHO Rankings for March 5, but you will never "see how the commitee ranked all the teams before putting them in brackets"

you were right, the NCAA site lists the USCHO rankings on the NCAA site. Crazy all the secrets the NCAA keeps, yet they use the rankings that everybody else says "they don't count for anything". What are they hidding anyway?
