Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

In regards to the post about #7 and his play, I can remember quite a few fans not giving Tyler Stitt any support and he turned out just fine so lets get behind Ryan he'll turn out just fine just like Tyler did

It is easy to be critical of almost any player in D3 but the coach has been playing him on special teams so he must believe he can do the job. I am a big fan of Ryan Whitell and am glad he is on the team. Also it is unusal to see one player singled out for criticism on a team and you almost never see it at Norwich.

If he knows your a fan, being that you are a welcher, I am sure he is embarrassed.

Ice queen if you are a true Norwich fan you do not come onto this forum and be sarcastic of Norwich player,it is not the way we true Norwich Fans act. The coach knows his players the best, So please let him do his job, remember he has won 15 straight years of ECAC titles. Thank-You and enjoy the teams run to Lake Placid. GO WICK.

Have we gotten to the point where there is a #1 goalie for the Cadets? Sometimes this luxury of having 3 good,(or great), goalies can be a handicap.....Just asking...

My guess is that whoever starts against USM will get the rest of the starts. McShane traditionally goes with just one goalie in the playoffs. Even when there has been a fixed rotation, it usually ends once the playoffs start.

I think it's down to 2. More likely it's Czarnota's job to lose, only with a terrible performance in the conference tournament would he be supplanted. I wouldn't be surprised to see Matic get one more start though, I think it has been very close. Personally, I think Carroll played himself out of a job early this year, and possibly last year. Definitely a good problem to have, though it would be nice if the cadets got fortunate with a transfer of the caliber of Cadieux at pburgh...that kid is goood.

I'm still trying to figure out the Parker deal. He let in 3 goals early against a Ranked D-1 team and then he is benched for most of the season? Somethng els had to happend. Norwich has three good goalies but the one thing Parker has that the others dont is playoff experience

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

I've been wondering the same thing about the Goalie situation all year. Love all 3 of them but it has amazed me that Parker hasn't gotten more of a shot. He's faced a mere 32 shots in 3 games all season. St. Mikes, Conn. College, and the last period of the Babson game. Stats found here http://www.uscho.com/stats/player/mid,19834/parker-carroll/ . Again I know i'm not behind the bench and can't question McShane one bit but it's been something I've been wondering. For a while I was wondering if McShane was taking a different approach and going to bring him in for the playoffs with none of the teams being familiar with him but I think that idea is a little too far-fetched. Can't bring a cold goaltender in for the playoffs in my opinion, especially with him not playing since the first Babson game. Nevertheless I'm pumped for the game this Saturday. I think the playoffs will come down to goaltending and our D. In my opinion our D has been a bit too soft. I'd like to see them take the body more as I feel we let opponents have there way when coming into the zone and into the slot. Too many uncontested shots coming from this, lets go cadets!

I don't think it was the number of goals he let in against Dartmouth so much as the way he played/didn't play the puck. It was the only NU game I got to see in person all year, and based on what I saw of him there, he didn't seem to have the same kind of puck vision as the other guys. Marinsek is the one who really surprised me this season. He did not get even serious consideration for a start last year, but he really stepped up his level of play this year. Marinsek and Czarnotta have separated themselves from Carroll in terms of their play. Marinsek did have one bad game against Neumann, but otherwise he's played well. I had some doubts about Carroll towards the end of last season. He's not a bad goalie, it's more that the other two seem to have improved more than he has.

Fair enough - However... I am a true fan which is precisely why I have been confused about bringing in a new player half way through the year and benching another who has played well (and who many of us fans have come to love watching). If Ryan had come out strong there'd not be any question. I realize when we go to a game we are watching only a portion of the whole story - what goes on in practice remains a big unknown and a large part of the entire picture. Obviously McShane has done an awesome job coaching and while I'm sure the coach knows his players best and has a strategy I'm not sure why it's wrong to question and/or discuss a decision he's made - especially on a forum. I may be the only one on this forum who is willing to share concerns/confusion but all around me in the stands fans are voicing the same question.

I would like nothing more than to be wrong about my initial impressions and will continue to drive 2.5 hours (each way) to attend all the games and watch as Ryan develops...as any true fan would.

Will say no more

Icequeen has been a USCHO registered user since Feb 2011, therefore I am inclined to believe Icequeen did not want to appear sarcastic, but is making a sincere expression of their opinion derived their personal feelings and observations. Perhaps these critical views are not consistent with yours, but IMO, if YOU are a TRUE FAN then you have respect for others opinions even if they differ from yours. If you can't take it, perhaps it is best if you stay off this forum so your feelings aren't hurt.

If you were actually making as attempt at playful banter, then you have my apology for mistaking your comments as appearing self-righteous.

Don't you know this is our home, and you weren't invited? :D

How dare you comment on a Norwich issue? :D

I know it's our home, because I started it by misspelling Owsego :D
