As usual Hawk is ill informed
You'd stake your reputation on that?

BTW, my nephew will be coming to Norwich. Thanks for the information and guidance. If you're @ Lake Placid, look me up.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Like all of us I was delighted with how all those younger Cadets were able to step into the breach this past weekend and who did such a great job against St. Mikes. I have every confidence they will continue to contribute but I am also curious if there is there any update on those five starting wounded warriors that had to sit out those games? Will any of them be ready for the Panther's on Tuesday night?

Well if midd plays like the 7-0 loss at home to platty, and the 5-0 loss on the road to the bears, I think they may be able to get by with the womens team:eek:

Da Panthers will be ready...they always are when it comes to "The Game"

Always, just because the Panthers are down a little bit this year doesn't mean they won't be ready for this one. There have been lots of times in this series when the team on a down year comes through and slaps the the favorites right smack in the face. Beware the wounded Panther.

That being said this one is always a special one. The only thing that is different this year is that we go back to playing these guys on a Weekday like in the old days. Looking forward to it.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Is there a place somewhere on this USCHOL website which explains the process they use for their weekly polls. Or can someone give me a quick explanation of who votes and what the precise process of voting is? Thanks.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Voting is done by 20 people some are sports writers, some are coaches and some are SID's. Its an opinion poll of who they think is best, they rate their top 15 teams, the team they rate as #1 gets 15 points #2 gets 14 points and so on, they tally the votes and add them up and we have our poll. There is really nothing scientific about it.

It's clearly not scientific. Manhattanville beat Neumann 3x, has a better winning percentage, is 4-0-2 against top 10 teams and still cant crack the top 15.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Thanks for the information on the polls. I suspected as much but didn't realize how small a sample they use by comparison to the size of the D3 universe of both total teams and conferences. :( The results are always nice to keep fans engaged and for bragging rights but have seemingly little scientific value. Thanks again.

actually they are 4-1-2 and once Neumann drops out they will be 1-1-2. They also have LOSSES to powerhouse Western NE and Weslyan and a tie with the Plattsburgh JV team (Curry). Neumann is also only a few points from dropping out of the top 10 and Manhatanvile a few getting into the top 10...just relax and enjoy the ride....

If you'd like something more scientific KRACH has a computer ranking listed here http://www.uscho.com/rankings/krach/d-iii-men/ though I don't think its up to date as it only shows Norwich with 10 wins.

And http://www.d3hockey.com/landing/index also has computer ranking which are updated once weekly, the new computer rankings should be out later today. I think the d3hockey rankings are better thought out than KRACH

The KRACH rankings are up to date. Norwich has played three games against Division II teams that don't count in the NCAA's primary criteria so the KRACH rankings don't factor it in.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Wick 4, Midd 0 after 1 period. I never would have guessed it would be like this even though I know Midd isn't the big threat they have always been.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Wick 5, Midd 0 after 2 periods. Poor Midd. I wish this was a league game! :D

Final: Wick 5, Midd 0.
